On our last trip, thehabitation water pump started running continuously. I noticed water coming out from above the spare wheel. After lowering said spare wheel, I found a water pipe had come apart. I fixed this with a jubilee clip, no worries. The other end of this pipe , in the cupboard underneath the bed, where it goes on to the water heater was also leaking, so another jubilee clip, no bother. No more leaks ! The pump still runs continuously. My drive is on a slope, would this make this happen, as I have not chocked the van up level ? Has anybody else experienced this problem with there pump ? Any suggestions would be great fully received !

Hi and welcome.

The pump will run continuously while it fills up the boiler, so may well be that.

Not sure how old your van is, or know it’s history, but I think I’d be checking every connector and jubilee clip to be sure. If in any doubt whatsoever, replace them and even replace the hoses that look iffy.

Lastly, I never leave the water pump switched on unless I’m in the van. I turn it off overnight and especially when I leave the van. Doesn’t take long for the pump to empty the fresh water tank. If your awake and in the van, at least you’d hear it.

Other than that, if it’s still pumping, then check all the taps and look for a leak.

Good luck 😀

One of the things that causes pipe joints to come apart is freezing water in the pipes. Sometimes they come apart totally, other times they almost come apart, waiting for that specially awkward moment to finally detach:rolleyes:. An extra jubilee clip just means the pipe joint splits instead of coming apart.

I have a feeling that the Chausson uses pressure to activate the pump rather than microswitches.

If it's running constantly there must be something reducing the pressure somewhere - either filling the boiler as PP Bear says or you have another leak or seep or (unlikely) is the pump or preesure switch faulty?

Leaks and seeps are a devil to find. I tend to use tissue paper tells (wrap kitchen paper or loo paper round a pipe and if it is damp or wet you know there is a leak further up the pipe or something is dripping on or running down that pipe).
