Hi everyone
After caravanning for 4 years and loving it we have bought our first motorhome last week .........so exciting just had to get in and smell it today to feel the excitement of adventures on the horizon ::bigsmile: Planning first trip end of October to try everything out, any suggestions of sites good for motorhomes not too far from Gloucester?

Hi; we just did the exact same thing. We bought our MH in July and have had a couple of weekends away in it and love it. So much easier than a caravan!
We have just had a weekend away at Talybont on Usk which is about 60 miles from Gloucester just off the A40 between Abergavenny and Brecon. Lovely site in the middle of the village - Talybont Farm Camping & Caravanning site. Lovely proprietor, Lydia. Don't know what the weather will be like then but it's a lovely area for walking. A canal runs through the village, there are 3 pubs, a shop, post office and cafe. Talybont Reservoir (lovely) is about 2 miles from the village - a good circular walk.. We drove in on the A40 and came back over the Brecons to the Heads of the Valley road to come home.

Just a suggestion...... Hope you enjoy yours as much as we are ours!!

Welcome, from Cooper's Edge, Gloucester.
There are many sites in and around, one near to Slimbridge and some good ones in teh Forest of Dean, for that initial nervous first outing, I used the CSMA site in the Forest as my test site about 18 months ago

Enjoy wherever you go

Welcome from Stonehouse

Forest of Dean is good but in winter is not so good and no real pubs close
Devizes is a good all year site with a pub at the bottom of the road and a cycle (or walk) down the canal to the town.
Have also visited Cotswold water park ( you dont have to go far) which was OK but noisy from the road.
Stratford upon avon has a nice site - on the Avon (free fishing) with a water taxi costing £1.50 into the town past some pricey houses.
Chew valley has an all adult site that is good

Any other ideas?

Couple of things on your first outing - watch out for the auto drainer on the heating. We once filled up with water at 2C and by the time we had got to the pitch it had emptied because the temp was too low.::bigsmile:
Also - Check EVERYTHING out including leisure battery performance even if you are on hook up

Hello and welcome. :welcomefunster:

We stay at Briarfields in Cheltenham when we are back to visit family & friends.
All hardstanding pitches so good all year round nice family site.
Maybe a bit close but still good for a quick few nights out!

Get out and enjoy that motorhome :thumb:

Not Long Enough.
:thumb:Hi Goldilocks,
Try the Tudor site at Slimbridge....good pub with good beer and grub. Excellent facilities, bird place just 10 mins walk away and don't forget to take your bikes........excellent riding along the canal to Gloucester and Sharpness.
