Transit Custom
Have been converting a Ford Transit Custom SWB. Built a rear Kitchen, all the conversions we've seen have very little headroom in the rear when the roof is raised. Has any one experience of the rear Elevating roofs? seen one advertised by Poptop Roofs Ltd but very little info or pictures of interior available.
Any help would be appreciated.

Had a Transit conversion with sca roof. Plenty of room inside.
The roof/ lack of headroom when the roof was down was the reason we got rid of the van. When raining the canvas gets wet, if the canvas is wet when you put the roof down it's onto the bed and the wet fabric is now inside the van.

Yup Poptops are fine when its hot and sunny, one reason we sold our VW Transporter was that it did get that damp feeling when away for a couple of weeks. One item we considered was a Poptop Cover like the <Broken link removed>.

If your thinking of other than long weekends or sunny weeks away you may want to consider a High Top, have to say at first we thought they looked ugly and impractical but on reflection if we stayed with a transporter we would have probably gone down that route.

Hope this is of help

Oh no....we feel for you and one reason we went for the Hymer PVC (metal roof not pop top!)

Never had any damp or water on the inside of our VW T6 California.
Some owners report the odd bead of water when new, this is perfectly normal as the material waterproofs it's self when in contact with water.
We now have a new Hymer with poptop, also with no damp or water issues.
On our last trip (along time ago😟)
we experienced two days of heavy rain in the Lake District with no problems.

We never had water come inside but being a canvas material we found it a little like a tent on the roof.

Good to hear you have a Hymer (y) some of the owners with PoP tops (Not All) are having a retrofit if you do find you are having any damp/ventilation issues have a look at the following, also you may already have the Mushroom vent at the back of the pop top or you may have a roof light at the rear with also allows for venting. Hope this helps.

We had a pop top fitted when we converted a T5 (sold now). It was great but I always wondered to myself if it was worth the £2500 extra just for a bit of headroom now and again. Probably wouldn't bother if I did it again and just put up with stooping and having a bad back.
