6yrs ish!
After being given the all clear from hospital. We're off. Just booked for 2wks in the Canaries from 4th Feb. Sort MH out on return. Booked into the Chester Meet. Then Peterborough. From there to J&Gs meet at twin lakes. Booked ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg 29th April 9-00am sailing. Travel insurance "Phew" £1.680.00 for 3weeks with my pre existing conditions. Think We will go on EHIC. (some may advise not). We only live once & going to make sure we live it well !!!!! (y)(y)(y)

That's a heck of a premium, we now use EHIC and ADAC's premium membership, which provides some medical assistance. Annuaal membership around £100.00, and provides cover irrespective of the vehicle you are driving/travelling at the time of requirement. See www.adac.de

Do enjoy your trip.

Congratulations, now enjoy life

Thank you for that Nomadic. Will check it out. Your right £1.680 is a heck of a lot, that's the cheapest we could find through the heart foundation who have specialist insurers.

Travel insurance with my fairly good medical conditions, plus my age, is what has stopped us from visiting the USA/Canada any more, we have been to both countries approx 6 times each, so will have to rely on memories in future.:crying:

Folks over 55 have specialist insurers....SAGA
older folks have specialist insurers too.....AGE CONCERN.
Both more expensive that shopping around.

Folks may go through respective specialists thinking they may be cheaper....but very often they arent.

Sounds like a good plan to me, insurance a bit much would check that out though. (y)

Pays to Shop around for insurance, that seems real high though! A bit worrying....who was that with out of interest

Problem I'm faced with is flying a further afield and finding resonable cost medical insurance, as want to go to India again for Christmas. Have given up in Europe and just use EHIC card like others.....

Have a great time (y)

Judgemental. If you go to heart foundation website. They list a few specialised companies. Also Age Concern. The problem being is that I had the two heart attacks in September. Thus in their eyes, I have to be free from any episodes for 12mths before they will even consider insurance. Even then it's a bit of a rip off. So, just going to enjoy life & not worry about it. Enjoy. EHIC will be fine for medical stuff but not repatriation. If you go to a High Street broker you may find they can sort out a tailored policy which will cover theft and loss without health insurance.

You have to decide if you would want repatriation should you become ill? Depends on your attitude to risk and a very personal decision.

Already agreed with the other half puddleduck. To quote a billy Connelly joke. If anything happens, find a decent spot. Build me up western style but leave me a-se sticking out, so people have somewhere to park their bike whilst visiting. Otherwise, it costs nothing to bring a jar back. (y)(y)(y);););)

As they say, life is not a rehearsal.

Most people regret the things the haven't done, not the things they have done.

Do it, and enjoy!
