Long time
I’ve been looking for a puppy, found a Supposedly JRT puppy near by, but…..
Just rang woman and-
I can’t see the mum as she’s lent her to her mother as she’s just lost her dog & feeling down.
Puppies father not in the picture.
She has another litter-of what I don’t know-so will have to meet her in Petrol station, doesn't want me to meet pup just pay and go.
Petrol station is near a Gypsy encampment!
Pup is supposedly chipped but she hasn’t been vaccinated!

Think I will pass on that one, too much dodgy stuff going on!

Friends of ours bought a "miniature JR" from a less salubrious part of town. They were shown the mum and litter in the garden shed and paid £600 for him about 5 years ago. As he grew, he morphed into a Yorkshire terrier front end and a JR back end, we call it the "cut and shut mutt" but they love him !

Caz fell for it as well 10 years ago, advertised as a pedigree Shihtzu, then you can see the parents of course you can, when? Next week was the reply

I told her to walk away, the vet laughed his head off when we took her and said she was a Shihtzu

She’s wonderful but she would have still been wonderful just not worth anything, we call her Suki but everyone, especially children, shout “Yoda” or “Gremlin” when they see her.

Sadly puppy farms, domestic family based puppy farming has increased horrifically. Theft of pets up around 800%. You’ve sensibly passed refused to peddle this awful and vile trade but 10 people behind you won’t.
Many say they hate PF yet they ignore this when it suits …. I adopted a little dog… wasn’t prepared to run the risk of lining someone’s pocket through their greed and disregard of animals. Well done you guys !

Probably!
Looking at a litter of JRTxChihuahua near to us, two JRT pups and other in Wiltshire.
Years since I had to cope with a pup, will have to try to remember it all, going to be fun to remember to lift anything chewable off the floor!

That’s why we only rescue older dogs…….! ;)

We would love to adopt but unfortunately all the charities want you to have a garden now and as we full time we don’t have a garden!
I do not want to adopt from abroad!
I have adopted 3 dogs in my adult life and my parents were always adopting.

We were walking with our dogs in a country park near Petersfield and met a lady who had bought a dog from some travellers, usual story the dog was about 6 to 9 months old, and the seller was now going back to work and had to get rid of the dog. We heard this many times when we were looking, it is standard for a stolen dog. Unfortunately the lady we met had fallen for it, she bought the dog and even registered the microchip to her number (it is possible to change the microchip number without changing the chip) but although she had insured the dog as soon as she got it, when she needed to claim, the "vet" who had supplied the vaccination record did not respond to the request for a medical history, so the insurance would not pay out. The lady was £1,300 out of pocket for a vet bill. Please do not buy from these people, your money keeps the trade going

Calm down everyone! :giggle:
I AM NOT BUYING FROM THIS PERSON!
Anyway we’ve decided that altho a puppy is a lovely idea but it’s not practical in a MoHo.
Actually a MH is ideal for a puppy ... when we got Minky at 12 weeks as soon as we could we went away for 3 weeks and she loved it. Having her in a restricted space meant that toilet training was much easier than trying to chase her round our bungalow! She soon learned to go to the hab door and look at it so we knew she wanted to go out so only had a couple of accidents initially and having to go out on the lead most times soon got her used to that too. She took to travelling brilliantly and usually curled up for a snooze as soon as we set off then at night she went into a cage and, so long as she could see hubby, she'd settle down, as she was used it when she had to go into it during the day whilst we went out for a while or had to do chores etc with the hab door open she'd just sit or lay down and have a snooze. She now regards the cage and her pop-up playpen as safe happy places to be ... we have the playpen in the lounge and hope and it's where she likes to store her favourite toys!

When we got Minky we were able to see both mother and father and a couple of the other puppies along with the kiddies who'd been interacting with them so had no worries that we were buying from the genuine owner. The only thing that was awry was that as she had moved from her original home due to domestic abuse she'd missed having the 2nd vacs done on time so we had to do them again hence Minky had to wait until she was 15 weeks before she could safely go out. At least with her interacting with the kiddies meant she had been well socialised and played with.

Minxy Girl, you’ve given us food for thought!
We’ve just looked at crates and one would work, never used a crate before for any of our dogs but everyone seems to think they are a good idea. We would probably only use it at night as in the day either both or one of us is always here!
I‘ve got two litters to look at, two pups and mum-one boy, one girl ready to go now.
Other litter is 5 pups not ready until later this month.
Still not sure wether we want a boy or girl, always had girls!

I do hope you have reported this to the police. Janie

Mandy, have you considered the extra cost now that you incur every time you take a dog into the EU for vaccines and tests ?
We were toying with the idea of another cat, but the cost of it coming with us abroad was a game changer.

We also found it easier away in the MH with our pup than when at home. She is always in sight and cannot get up to mischief. We use a fabric travel cage that wedges in behind the drivers seat. Mind you, she has grown a bit and we sort of have to stuff her in now
On site we use a long lead attached through the open sliding door to the passenger seat and she sits happily outside watching the world go by.
It helps that she is not a chewer, there are no destroyed toys or even holes in any.
We did stick some clear perspex 2mm thick, over the bottom half of the windows around the seating as our blinds are the concertina papery sort and we were afraid her paws would damage them if she jumped up. Just used velcro dots to stick the perspex to the blind frames.
A zip up to the neck towelling dog bag helps to contain her when wet !

Some don't like crates, but we found that so long as they are a good place and never used as punishment they help with toilet training loads.
When Gus came home he went in his crate and started playing with the toys that were waiting for him, then fell asleep among them.

I wonder if any of these tricks would work on a man. :imoutahere:

Yes been up & down that road so many times in the last year!
Cost & Fudge knocked my confidence too. We would probably only go abroad twice per year & if I save hard I think it’s feasible, also pup won’t be going abroad for poss another 8 months or so.
