Hi, we are traveling to Helsinki next year (in May) via Denmark & Stockholm.
We are familiar with the places we can pitch in Stockholm. (1.) the motorhome park under the by-pass's by Langholmen OR 2.) the car parking areas round by the Vasa museum.

Does anyone have similar recommendations for the centres of Helsinki and Copenhagen ?

thanks
Steve

Hi Steve
Helsinki - there is a reasonably priced campsite -5 minutes walk to a metro station - you can buy a one day travel anywhere ticket at the station - again very reasonable and easy to use.
Copenhagen- City Camping - large car park near shopping centre - you can buy a one day transport ticket - boat takes you into centre and you can use some of the buses - May not sound attractive but excellent location - secure -we would recommend it - you will need to check opening dates though.
Langholmen - used this site - But we now prefer the Tantolludens site - smaller - open all year and we think easier to walk into the city.
We are away at present so no info with us - but feel free to pm us in a few days if you want any other information or can't find any of the above.
I think the parking around the museum in Stockholm is not allowed now - could be wrong though?
We hope to be over there this year -probably spending more time further north though.

Hi, many thanks for reply. Next May, seems a long way off, but I just wanted to get some loose plans together for the city stop-overs. (& yep, parking around the museum just didn't feel correct ? ... we only day parked there though)

We live in Stockholm and there are many MHs parked up overnight next to the water on Strandvagen.

We spent a week earlier this month in Finland. We would highly recommend Rastila camping. Quite, safe, great facilities, and 5 minutes walk to the metro which takes 15 minutes to the city centre.

Haven't been to Copenhagen yet but it's on the list for next year!

H; in May 2014 we stayed at Hillerod on a very nice campsite just north of Copenhagen. Trains every 10 mins into the city, can't remember how long train journey was, not long.
May 2015 we stayed at campsite a little way out of Stockholm; at Bredang, more space than the Langholmen site so we could spread out a bit and have a bbq with our daughter , but not as convenient really.
Helsinki, Rastila campsite would get our vote, not really a lot of alternatives I think.
Enjoy your trip
