My underslung gas tanks are full (just filled them a couple of days ago). No gas is coming through to any of the appliances or the heating. Have checked the valve on the regulator but not convinced it is OK - wondering if I hav e gor
t some crap in the regulator.

Literally siting in Folkestone to go on the tunnel tomorrow for a3 week trip. Anyone point me in the direction of a motorhome dealer who could have a quick look for me? Have checked the gas is definitely switched on and the regulator reads full.

Any other ideas also welcome.

Thanks in advance

does your system have a manual gas isolator or an electric solenoid one? if the latter, check the circuit has power. If the former, it is most likely a dead regulator

If you could gas in there, wouldn't that mean that the regulator is clear? Don't know if it's an on-board regulator, but just wondering if the gas is turned off somewhere, either on the tank itself or onboard. Or is there a red panic button on the regulator? If so,just push it in. I've had a similar situation, and it was the latter. It's easy to miss the obvious.

Gas is definitely on and was working before I filled up last Thursday - phoned RS who think it may be frozen or crap in the regulator or regulator knackered.

In any event, I need a pit stop somewhere to get it fixed ASAP

I don't know which direction you are going, but any dealer should be able to help. As you've obviously got internet, just find one on your route while you are waiting. Good luck, don't worry, you get help somewhere. Even the French can be very helpful as I've found in the past.

ceejayt - Calais Caravans, now seemingly called MLD Calais (multiloisirs.fr), may be able to help if you still need it. They are on the road out towards Auchan at 1265 avenue Roger Salengro, just before reaching the fort. According to Google Earth there are two other possibilities around Calais. Maka Loisirs at 617 rue de Tunis (makaloisirs.com) situated between the autoroute and, I think Bleriot Plage. It is only a few hundred metres from the autoroute. The third one is Caux Evasion at 80 rue de la Vendée (cauxevasion.fr). This one would be more difficult to find as it is situated well to the east of the centre, close to where there is a canal which runs inland from the port,

I hope this may help you.

Well, I hope you have it sorted out, wherever it was done.

All sorted - mostly because I am an IDIOT!

Drove down to my friends in Normandy and popped in to a dealers nearby - Camping Cariste just outside Rennes. No English spoken but I have enough French to explain the problem.

Still in order to make you smile here is what happened.

So, we have recently returned from France a couple of weeks ago - going on the tunnel I turned off the four taps that run from the gas supply to the various appliances. We drove straight home, I plugged in so was on electric and thought no more about the gas.

10 days later I head off back to the tunnel - I turn off the gas with the four taps (OH NO I DIDN'T - I TURNED THEM ON!) arriving in France I turned them back on (OH NO I DIDN';T - I TURNED THE B*GG*RS OFF!) errrr - no gas.

Turned up at the dealership - quick look turns them on and everything works - except the ALDE heating and hot water which has had a gas failure dicky fit and will not relight. Dealership locate the fuse, take it out and replace it and now all good.

So, I have told the truth, I could have just said it was a problem with the fuse but perhaps it will give you a smile. I now have the demo labeller out to mark the taps OFF and ON

What a Dilbert I can be!

BTW dealership guys were lovely - spent 20 minutes sorting out, no charge, I bought something in the shop instead

Make sure you only drive on Roman Roads.

Then you can't be made to stand in the corner.

We all make mistakes - I nearly crashed my car when I thought I'd check the ABS by slamming on the brakes, only to discover it didn't have ABS!

I've actually found French motorhome dealers to be a lot easier to deal with when our fridge packed in than the dealer we bought it from in the UK
