I seem to be getting good at buying the wrong things lately.
I’ve got what I thought was the correct propane regulator but clearly it’s not . Can anyone tell me what I need please .

Cheers guys . Stupid of me to get the wrong regulator. Never heard of Patio gas but I guess they must be a competitor of Calor. Might as well keep it just incase I need it in the future 👍🏻

Patio gas ... is that like the underfloor heating you have inside but for the patio outside? :giggle:

That may well fit a Calor Butane bottle.

But a better option might be to fit a regulator to the 'van. And then just use a pigtail from the bottle to the regulator.

Yep keep it, if you're ever in a fix for a Calor cylinder you'll might just find a patio cylinder... don't ask why I've had to do this.

I tend to hoard stuff anyway so for £10 it’s not worth sending back or selling on . Is Patio gas just a Calor equivalent?

Yes, same as your orange bottles, just a different fitting regulator usually seen on domestic gas bbq's.

Patio gas is used in patio heaters like the freestanding ones you see in pub smoking areas outside etc, with the shortage of calor bottles I think some people have possibly been using patio gas bottles and these regulators to supply their vans.

"Patio Gas" is actually supplied by Calor. It is exactly the same as the red bottles, but painted green. The only real difference is that they fit the regulator that you accidentally bought. These regulators are easier to use, especially if you've lost your spanner. But Calor sees them as a "premium" product. So you pay an extra couple of quid for exactly the same amount of gas.

It's not quite the same as the Butane clip-ons. Very similar in design, but the butane is 21mm @ 28mb, whilst the patio is 27mm @ 37mb.

Both sizes can also be supplied in a 30mb variant, which is the new standard, but still quite rare on standalone regulators for some reason.
