:Eeek: Hi, we've had a campervan now for a couple of months and are complete novices!!! We have a 1989 Renault Trafic...and loving it, but unsure on the electrics. We have a leisure battery and hook up, but should the plug sockets work on just the leisure battery as at the moment only the lights do... do we need to charge it more, or is this how it should be??

Many thanks..

Helen

Hi ,,, if you are talking about the 220v outlets then no, they will only work on hook up..
If you are talking about any 12v outlets then yes, they should work from the battery

Ah ......

As Jaws says the 12v sockets should work from the leisure battery.

But on our previous van when we wanted to use the 12v vacuum cleaner or the tyre pump, the amount of electrickery they needed, was too great and wouldn't work in the habitation area sockets, so we had to turn the ignition on and plug it into the 12v socket in the cab area - this was OK because they both had very long leads.

In our new van, the vac certainly works all over the van in all the habitation area sockets - and we don't want to use the pump at all thanks, so we've not tried it !
