We have realised that we have never been to Brittany, we always seem to by pass it on the road South. We are thinking of going for a short hop/visit of about 10 to 12 days at the beginning of July. We aim to be back by 16th at latest, as we want to avoid the real French high season as much as possible. Crossing using the tunnel.

We know we can't do it all, so we are looking for recommendations of "must do" or "must see" places as well as good stopping places. We usually use Aires, because they are closer to interesting places, but will happily use a campsite or two if it is near somewhere interesting.

Any suggestions most welcome please. Also some good menu du jour restaurants would be helpful

Many thanks for your help..

As above, Rose Granit Coast plus Morbihan area. Coastal aires will be busy but there are plenty of campsites. Also look at the Camping Car Parks organisation as they have a few aires in Brittany and you can see if they have spaces online. The one just west of Roscoff is nice if you want to get away from civilisation. :). Brittany is perhaps my favourite bit of France and we have visited several times but when you use the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff its hard to avoid Brittany. :)

Get camper. Contact all the good aires in their

Ps supermarket at pontison. Good on way

Lots of great places in Brittany, depending on your tastes. Do you want coast or towns? Most of the coastline is worth a visit, but the smaller coastal aires might be full or very busy.
Here’s a short list of places worth visiting, most have aires either in the area or close by.
St Malo. Walled town with interesting everything
Dinan. Medieval town with lots of cobbled streets.
Rochefort en Terre. Another medieval town with a chateau. Lots of things going on in the town and chateau all year.
Josselin. Nice town with a chateau on the Nantes Brest canal.
Carnac. Standing stones
Concarneau. Another medieval walled town.
Huelgoat. Town in the “mountains”. Lots of Arthurian legend and enchanted stuff around. Some impressive stones in the enchanted forest and great walks. Lots of other standing stones, menhirs and old burial chambers around that part of the coast.
Museum of the resistance at Argoat is brilliant, exhibits are signed in English too. (L'Étang Neuf, 22480 Saint-Connan, France)
The coast near Plouha was where the resistance took downed airmen to meet with the RN and escape, there is a memorial in one of the coves.

That should give you a start......

Whatever you do, keep your eyes open for a village or towns Bastille Day celebrations on the 14th July.

Oh! and leave the following day free from driving.
