I'm looking to bolster the security on my 2011 Ducato based Chasson.

I've been doing a lot of reading over the last few days, this is what I _think_ that I have learned so far:

Alarm and immobiliser - a basic requirement. I have these already.

A tracker (or 2) provide an additional layer of security/ piece of mind - plenty of info in recent threads on options I will be getting one.

A physical immobiliser, such as clutch claw, seems recommended by quite a few.

Windows are an obvious weak spot - still trying to work out the best options, for both glass (cab) and plastic (habitation). I might look at getting security film.

Doors - this is where I need some help...

Ducato doors seem notoriously insecure, so seems very sensible to upgrade the security.

Options seem to include:

Lock Shields/prick guards - not much discussion about these on here?

Deadbolts (such as HEOSafe but NOT the type that you see on builder's van's that can be jemmied open) - but with no external keyhole how do you use these when you leave the moho?

Internal 'retainers' (purpose made or just connecting the door handles) - same as above, can't lock/unlock from outside, and the ones that connect at low level may foil an entry attempt and keep people out, but for me they are not visible enough to discourage attempts - how much damage done to the door/lock first before finding it won't open?

Seems a lot of cab door security needs to be 'locked' from the inside (I do understand the need to be safe whilst in the vehicle) but what about when leaving it? That places a lot of reliance on the habitation door, and for me that seems a real weak point.

My natural inclination would be to harden this entry point somehow and then exit the moho through one of the cab doors? Perhaps even a combination of both external (for visible deterrence as above) and internal locking?

Currently we only have a single locking point in the middle of the door. Should I shield this lock with something like this <Broken link removed> , or one of the exterior latch types (thule inside out or similar by Milenco or Fiamma). Or both...or something different?

I have seen the recent chat about the plates (e.g. Grizzly) that can be slotted in to prevent the catch from being lifted, but again they only really seem useful if inside.

I know windows are a week point, but surely we want to stop some scrote going in through the window and just opening the door?

And final question (sorry, I know this is long already?), garage locks... same as the habitation lock question really. Any suggestions?

(I already know that if they want it they will take it or what's in it, but I want to make it difficult and off-putting).

I fitted Pro Plates door lock shields to the doors on my previous 2007 Ducato. I'd seen a few examples of the lock being forced in and then the lever is easily reached through the hole. The Pro Plates are supposed to make it much harder. I got the version that has both an outer shield and an additional inner channel to guard the lever from manipulation if they do force the lock barrel out. Pro Plates aren't too expensive. They take a while to fit though, not because it's technical, just because of the number of times you are trying to put screws in blind in small gaps in the door structure, you drop them into the depths and spend the next hour fishing them out and swearing!

With all of these things, you're trying to make your van look like a harder and less attractive target than the next one. Pro Plates are a visual "I'm taking security seriously".

I've never been bothered about them getting in and I have yet to find an answer. I simply leave very little of value to steal in the van - ever.
I concentrate on making the van impossible to steal.

Yes, I have gone down the road of following Funsters tips on here, visible deterrants: lock drivers seat, chains on passenger/driver door, internal habitat door locks, clutch claw.
But alas there is no stopping the thieving scrotes, just try your best and listen to the good Funster advice
Just to show you the bits I use, all ideas have been from posts on here
