Help!where are the parts for an old’un?? (1 Viewer)

Hi I am completely new to this and not very technical either!We have a twin axle Autotrail Chieften which is 21 years old.she is in excellent condition but the shock absorbers failed on the mot last week and I’m having real trouble sourcing the parts to replace the rear ones.can anyone give advice please??

What is it based on, a Fiat Ducato, etc?

Yes the Fiat Ducati,the mechanic who’s doing the work said the parts are AL-ko blue shock absorbers but he can’t find any and I’m going round in a circle

Those shock absorbers are only made by Al-Ko (no alternatives) and are't cheap,there should be a number on them somewhere,so you need to find an Al-Ko dealer. Before B***** the cheapest and quickest delivery were from Germany! (Ignore the Fiat bit!)

Some shock absorbers can be re-furbished, so maybe an option if you cant get any replacements.

Sounds an option although I can’t see our mechanic being very keen on that,he’s put it into my hands because it was taking up so much time ringing round trying to find some

Googling them some come up on Amazon, as said above you need the part number.

Have you tried Coastal motorhomes, they know their stuff. If not stocked they could probably advise you where to source
