We are in Takat just south of Agadir and looking for assistance in getting our N /S mirror (which is now scattered at the road side thanks to a school bus) replaced. Do any of you Funsters know of a Fiat commercial garage or the telephone number for Mustapha in Agadir or south of Agadir

There is a Fiat main dealer on the Agadir bypass that has helped out many a Funster in the past. Just keep following the N1 South and you will see it on the right hand side, its a big place so easy to spot.
Coordinates (30.3945393, -9.5201515)

Mustafa passed away a couple of years ago I believe.

Also, if it appears closed go round the back where the mechanics work, you may also see a few motorhomes parked waiting for repair/service.

Just help your self to a mirror :rofl::rofl:

I always carry a polished stainless steel sheet to use as a temporary one in the event of losing a mirror

If the arm and a bit of the mirror is still there get a mirror glass and reel of tape as a last resort

I had mine repaired using a glazier and a welder, both in the same street, in Tata. Took the shattered mirror around lunchtime, and it was ready by 5pm. Total cost £15. Lasted till we got home, new one from Southdowns £430.

For those funsters who met Nick and Karen in their Autotrail this trip, just to say we had a chat with them today at Sidi Ifni and they have had no internet connection so wanted folks to know they are fine and loving Maroc.

My apologies!I

Or, for about a tenner on Fleabay, you can get a pair of self-adhesive backed replacement mirror glass that sticks over the broken glass remnants - I wouldn't treat them as a permanent repair but I carry a set as a get me home fix. So long as enough of the mirror housing survives of course!

Of course being so prepared has ensured that I've never broken a mirror, cunning eh.... :p:rolleyes:

Hi @Portland .
We are in exactly the same way as you. Ours got taken out by a large truck just north of Agadir about 30 k from Essaouira.
Did the police attend yours as they didn't ours eventhough we stopped for about 20 mins.
Cheers Nik

In my experience North African’s are brilliant at fixing stuff, this is often because replacement parts are not readily available. I would wager that if you popped into any building with vehicles parked outside, showed them your problem, you would have a useable mirror fixed to your moho very quickly for a few Dirhams.

I lost mirrors three trips running in Morocco. Each time to a French Capning Cariste who couldnt keep to his own side of the road.

Each time I was able to jury rig someting as the van was A calss with bus type mirrors.
Once I used a hand mirror from a small shop plus copious duct tape. Another was using the remains of the original mirro plus copious duct tape. Finally in Tafroute a young man in what looked like a secondhand car parts shop found a piece of mirror approximately the right size for the remains of the housing and made up the rest of the housing using glass fibre mat and epoxy resin. Total cost a few buttons and a couple of tuns of beer.
Repairing physical stuff like this in Morocco is easy, they are so inventive. Its only when it comes to electronics that they can get stumped.

I agree with you @makems very resourceful people, using to fixing things because they have to be. They were faster replacing my water pump (engine) than many UK garages would have been.

Ive got to believe they re capable of sorting a mirror out. Has anyone tried a glazier and sticks like?

We were hit by a yellow bus with mirrors at the same height, I stopped he drove on so no police. There's a Moroccan here at Kaouki camping but I can't get through to him what I need so going to try at Sidi Ifni,

The chap turned up yesterday and removed the complete mirror assembly. Hes taken it awayto see what he can do but it'll be a jury rig thing as he made enquiries and like you found there's none in Morocco. He'll bring it back on Monday. Cost us 1400 for his troubles but at least we'll have a 'working' mirror. Expensive i know but peace of mind is important on this our first trip.
I've managed to find a complete assembly in the UK for £120 which will be there when we get home.
@Portland We liked Sidi Ifni. Stayed at the Barco site on the sea front as we like see views and not looking at walls.

Latest .
Salvaged parts recounted, 2 brand new proper replacement mirror. All works.
Still need duct tape to secure the wires Tec but all now ok.
In all we paid 1700 but we weren't expecting proper mirrors.
