One of Levelling jacks went down while I was heading to the Chunnel, I’ve been getting battery errors but I’ve put that down to my leisure battery being dud, they all retract but then the front right starts dropping again, I have plenty in the oil reservoir, I’ve pulled the fuse but it’s still happening, any ideas?
The scraping noise was horrendous, I tried cable ties but they broke so something is causing pressure behind this ram
I thought they all way fail safe in the up position, this has been a nail biting journey😩😩

I’ve notice on the panel the light for that jack remains on even when fully retracted

Is there a vent on the oil reservoir?. And if so is it clear? IF not there is a chance the reservoir is pressurising should the resrervior be close to the engine or exhaust the heat would be sufficient to add to the pressure where the closest jack might be relieving said pressure?

No guarantee of course but a theory which might bear investigations?

As a temporary fix could you unbolt ram and fit it so that if it extends it goes along the chassis, in other words turn it sideways.🤔
Should be a pressure release valve on reservoir.

I’ll have a look in a bloody tiny enclosure👍

Have you tried taking the control panel off and disconnecting it?
sounds almost like a valve in the pump has stuck open ?

Any pressure release system would have to work both ways otherwise the reservoir would pull a vaccum when the oil was pumped into the jacks. Normally it is just a venting hole a bit like the old fashioned car brake master cylinder had a hole in the cap. Dirt and crap could easily block th passage of air. That is all it was on the Winnebago a small drilling in the filing cap. It had a jack rear near side which occasionally woul refuse to retract. Couldn't start the engine till I went under and hit it with a stick! Took it apart and freed and lubricated it in a Wallmart car park.

When I had a problem with mine I had to do a reset by disconnecting power at the battery and then after a couple of minutes reconnect all worked fine after that.😊

That’s what I will have to do I’m afraid 8 bloody big bolts in vey tight area but yeah good suggestion

I’ve removed the connector to the battery and it still kept dropping👍

So I’ve extended the ram as far as it will go and then put up again and it doesn’t seem to be dropping, I’ll have a wee drive around the Chunnel car park to see what happens

Just another thought there was a problem with the remote controls could that rams button be stuck in down mode?

In the car park, missed our train so on the 5:50

I think you have to do it at the battery as there are other connections within its system and needs to disconnect main cable.😊

Problem is all the pump and hydraulics are on top of the battery, not a clever design

What this one ?

Would removing the fuse not do the same?

So after I extended the ram as far as possible, retracted it again the ram has stayed up, I’ve taken it for a quick up and down the car park and no issues, one thing that did start happening for the last twenty miles was the panel would switch itself on with the low battery voltage showing.

Anyhow it’s made me very nervous as I’ve got to get back to the lakes from Folkestone, any good campsites nearby I don’t think I can do a night shift driving if it all goes wrong on route

I take it, it is the cab battery you you have been disconnecting and ours has a E&P system has a fuse next to the cab battery which it is powered from. Normally removing the 20 amp blade fuse next to the pump for 30 seconds and then replacing cures any problems.
