Evening. On our last trip we dropped something heavy into the bathroom sink and it made a small hole in the white plastic which is brittle. We have a Westfalia James Cook. The hole is about the size of a large screw head and I would be grateful for suggestions about what product to use to discretely fill the hole. Sikaflex would work but would not give the shiny finish of the rest of the sink. I wondered if there was anything from the marine world. So any suggestions? Thank you. Adrian.

If you have access to back of the hole I would apply tape to the back an use GRP filler in layers allowing to set in between, build up slowly trying to fill as level as possible avoiding sanding.
Discreet is possible invisible less likely unless you engage the professionals' smart repair specialit's and they don't come cheap

I would use Plastic Padding Gel Coat filler, brilliant stuff and if applied correctly shouldn't need sanding but if it does use 3000 grade wet & dry.
I can only find tins online at the moment but you can normally find tubes of it in yacht chandlers.

Not knowing but can you provide pics or dimensions.

Before trying to make the repair which will probably remind you daily about the accident it’s sometimes best to just search online for a new replacement bathroom sink at the best price / delivery and after fitting just carry on as normal like the accident never happened.

Thanks for all the suggestions. A replacement sink that fits will not be easy to come by as the only downside to the James Cook ( which otherwise is brilliant and an absolute Tardis of a van) is availability of some parts The gel coat sounds like the answer. A product I hadn’t previously come across but which gets rave reviews. Thanks. Adrian

Gel coat filler also good on exterior repairs, like a cracked bumper etc, depending on what the original material is of course that you are trying to repair. always good to have

I had to do a temporary fix on a friends sink when their daughter dropped a soap dispenser in it whilst on holiday. A roofing bolt with a tap washer and nut behind gave a waterproof seal. Not perfect but done in a field and allowed the sink to be fixed properly later on.

The permanent fix was some waterproof tape on the back and fill the hole with gel coat filler. Nearly invisible repair unless you knew where to look

if you can get your sink out there are companies who can copy it and make you a new one

I dont need one but it sounds ideal for future reference just in case, but what cost are we looking at for your job?

I think we paid around £65 which we thought was very reasonable this is a before and after ours had cracked round the plug hole
