As it looks like I will off the road for a while perhaps I can take the opportunity to help someone out. I have a fully equipped engineering workshop should you need a special one off or part repaired. Can copy your part or work from drawings, no silly prices, even barter for W.H.Y. Why throw it away when I may be able to repair or make a new piece for you. Got an idea want a prototype built I'm your man, not in business just a hobby, I retired from being a toolmaker/machinist years ago. Now just need to keep sane.

How strange. I was complaining the other evening about how the jobbing engineer had disappeared. I think you could have a very nice little business if you wanted.
I've a couple of ideas for A-frames but don't have the skills to make them.
Where are you based?

Regards
Doug

Why, am i missing something.
Spring hanger bushes John, will take me an age to do, no pit, no hoist no cash quote over £400 and a dodgy back looks like it will entail removal of all the springs to press the bushes out and new ones in. Still pondering on it. probably make a removal tool utilising a 12 ton jack

Hi Roger,

We've got one of those new unbelievable motorhomes that never needs a spare wheel.

Seriously ~ our new 'home' doesn't have a spare wheel and therefore no carrier. I would much rather have one but can't even find one that would fit with modification. I know over the forums that lots of people are trying to find spare wheel carriers for their new motorhomes as its becoming the norm to omit the spare. I'm sure there could be a lucrative business for someone.

I'm a long way from you but if you've any ideas I'd be interested.

Regards, Steve

Whilst a spare wheel carier is omitted vans very often have a ladder on the back for roof access why not perch a spare on the bumper and bolt back to the ladder, weight taken by the bumper (unless that is a stupid plastic one) Check ladder fastnings first. I carry mine in the overcab space.

Hi Roger,

Its a small 'A' class with all plastic rear with a bike rack.

The only place would be chassis mounted to rear of axle. Its an ALKO chassis but their aftermarket carriers; mainly for caravans; won't fit.

I'll keep up the search.

Regards, Steve

Hi Roger to give some idea of your workshop capabilities what equipment do you have? Lathe, Shaper, hoz or vert mill, centre grinder etc.
