Help needed please with Sky. In Europe (1 Viewer)

Hi all

Really hope some wise person can help me with a problem we are having with Sky....it is starting to send me crackers.

We are in our 2nd week of a 9 week journey around France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and finally back home via Germany, we are currently parked at a nice site on Lake Maggiore in Italy......we arrived yesterday and as soon as we put the dish up and switched on the Sky box we got instant perfect reception on all channels including BBC, ITV, etc.

However this morning (after leaving the dish up through the night so no settings had been altered) we just get the message "Your box is still initialising, please return in a short time to use this feature"....we have had this message for over 6 hours and nothing we do seems to have any effect. we seem to have this intermittent problem on any site that we stay on regardless of country.

I am desperate to see the remainder of the Masters tournament from Augusta and also would like to see Match of The Day, any help would be really appreciated.

Try pulling the mains lead out the box and pushing back in to reboot the box.

As advised pull the power. If it's a HD or Sky + box wait at least 5 mins till you plug it back in, they don't like a fast reboot. If that doesn't work pull the power again, wait for 5 and then plug back in whilst pressing the "backup button" on the box till "software update" shows on screen and all the lights come on. If connected via rf you won't see it on screen. This will force a software update if it has corrupted.

@PeeAndDee It’s worth just re searching for Astra2 with the dish as it may have moved slightly.
We never leave the dish up over night as if the wind gets up it could do some serious damage not just to the dish but your roof as well
Also sometimes the weather will affect reception especially dense cloud as you are probably on the edge of the sat footprint.

And if you are using a Sky+HD box, but only with one cable, make sure it is in single feed mode.
And that you are connected to "input 1"
Box initializing means that the box cannot located the Sky EPG data on frequency 11778 that it needs to boot up

try moving your van you might just be on the fringe of the signal
