Help needed near Christchurch Dorset

Is anybody able to help a local lady with fitting a new battery? It is under the drivers seat and too heavy for my back to attempt to lift. I could do all the electrical bit, just need somebody strong to do the lifting

Bit far for me John (260 miles round trip), but if your still stuck after tomorrow then I can do Sunday morning (for a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich)

If it’s the seat that is too heavy rather than the battery, I managed to change mine (Autosleeper Nuevo) without totally removing the seat as one of the bolts was seized.
It may be possible to remove 3 bolts and swivel the seat sufficiently to access the battery.

Thankyou Janine the van is an older model, so seized bolts may well play a part. The lady who owns it is definitely unable to tackle this herself and is unable to use the van till it is fixed

I am in the New Forest next week on the Brockenhurst Showground campsite thingy. Could get over towards the Christchurch area Tues / Wed mid-day ish. I'd probably cycle though (don't fear I've got as far as Poole before now) so presume you'd have any tools needed.

Just remember, if the "local lady" is within earshot that any job worth doing will need to be "talked to kindly". It's a quality job if it draws blood

She bought this van months ago and it has been on SORN till lockdown lifted. The previous owner had fitted a battery isolator and didn't tell her to turn it on to charge the battery. So she started to get the van ready to use and nothing worked. The battery is reading less than 9v. I have recommended she take out breakdown cover before she uses the van, but it seemed an unnecessary expense with the van sat unused for months

We are down in Aldridge Hill Camping in forest site on the 21st and i will be driving down early on the 21st so could swing by and give you a hand. Alex will be driving down in car later on the day so we could help over the weekend.

Sorry to hear that Kev, at least we can get out and about a bit in the van now. Things don't seem so bad when you look out the window to beautiful countryside

go sit in the van with the blinds closed, pour yourself a drink and imagine you are somewhere nice, miles away from the hassle of the building work. Works wonders when I start getting peed off with not being away etc
