Last time i ordered some brake pads for my wife's VW Caddy i screwed it up and got some cheap but wrong type pads..... So i'm wondering how i can avoid that again when ordering on-line for the Ducato ? I want to get front and rear sets (done about 40k km). Beyond whipping the wheel off and taking a photo/getting a part number is there a way to be as close as possible as being sure i'll get the right parts ???

Also any European sites people recommend ?

Find a online car parts site that you can put your reg no or VIN etc into that should give you your best chance .
eg Broken Link Removed

Try looking on a site that uses the reg number like....https://www.partshark.co.uk/find-used-car-parts-by-registration-number/

It will point you in the correct direction

OK I'll have a look for a VIN based search website, should be one around some where

Thanks, yes it's a local company but there doesn't seem to be a VIN search, just the usual pic-n-pix drop down menus...

Look at europarts for oem number if you have vin number to hand

the first page of the site gives you a section on left to enter details of your vehicle make model , year and engine , which should be adequate to get the correct pads :)
this should get to a part number so you can corroborate on another site .

Which chassis and wheel size is your van? different combinations available each type/size

I wouldn't have thought they would need doing yet - mine have done over 88 Km and still OK.

Pads or discs ?

We do run heavy and since last year also tow a small trailer, plus lots of long down hill runs through the Alps hence i assumed it's a worth while job doing.

The trouble with the drop down menus is the results are vague and open to interpretation, that's how i made the last mistake, the VIN option would remove any doubt though.
