Currently touring and in South of France.

My Dometic RML 10.4T has begun to act irratically. It has worked perfectly for the last 4 weeks while touring moving from 12v to 230v to Gas as required In Auto setting. It is less than 3 years old, as is my Motorhome.

It starts beeping and jumps around from elect, gas and 12v on its own, switches on and off itself, then rights itself to 230v as I am on hook up currently. It has done this at least 5 times tonight.

Any ideas please as cannot do without the fridge here.

What happens if you manually select a specific power source, say gas ?

And then is the gas supply working correctly ?

Could it be that 12v supply is too low and also gas supply isn’t working correctly ?

When it is having a fit jumping between each source and beeping as it moves I am unable to do anything. Until it stops at one of the sources - even though set at auto. I managed to switch it off at one point then had difficulty switching back on. It just did its Radom shuffle a few minutes ago and returned to 230v this time.

I am currently on hook up and not using gas currently although it has been ok on gas before now. My 12v supply is good and showing about 100% on my control panel.

I have been on a slight sideways slope pitch for the last 2 days without problems. My experience in the past with my last Motorhome was that the 3=way was sensitive to a front/rear slope rather than sideways. Moving on tomorrow off this site.

Didn’t do it during the night - so will see how it goes today when travelling. Will update later! Thanks for suggestions.

Just incase you need assistance, repairs/parts, this place is very good.

If it keeps switching between gas and electric randomly it’s almost certainly low mains voltage. You will hear the fridge clicking frequently and the gas lighting and then turning off and on. Switch it to gas manually. I would turn your mains power off at the fridge as it can blow the fridge’s power control box. Mine blew last trip. French and Spanish power grid is very unstable.

Is your settings on a knob or electronic. I had a problem once and was advised to just switch it off completely for a few minutes, then switch back on again (knob). It worked.

If it's the voltage that's down a bit, you can get a voltage stabiliser that will take in whatever rubbish the mains is supplying, and output a nice standard 230V that the fridge will be happy with. They come in various powers, a small 4A one will be fine for the fridge, with plenty left over for the charger etc. It also protects against sudden spikes and surges.

That’s a really good idea. Seen many German vans with these fitted. Can save you on an expensive repair on your fridge. 👍

Try cleaning and retightening the leisure battery terminals. After months of intermittent bleeping and erratic operation my wife spotted this tip on google somewhere. It worked. Never had a problem since. It’s worth a try!

Thanks for all your suggestions. Since moving on it has not done it again. The suggestions of low voltage or perhaps the slight sideways slope look like the potential suspects. If it does it again I have the various suggestions to follow through on.

Thanks again everyone.

I don't think it's the slope, that would affect all three power modes equally because it affects the cooling circuit.

99% convinced it’s low voltage. Switch manually to gas and switch off mains to fridge.
Good luck 🤞

I'm a newbie
My fridge started doing similar when set on auto. we normally run the fridge on gas and 12v when driving. Started the engine and the fridge just kept cycling from gas to 12v rapidly. I am pretty sure that the 12v 20amp fuse holder is damaged and doesn’t want to play. So the same thing is probably happening to you. As other people have said your 230v supply is probably not correct so it just keeps cycling between 230v and gas. Try just running on gas.

We have had it quite a few times in France caused by low mains voltage at times of high consumption early evening and in the morning when people are cooking, boiling kettles or showering.
