had to replace the EGR valve on sons Working transit van earlier today. in the process i noticed a snapped terminal (top red arrow of a good one in place) at the left front of the engine which i am struggling to establish what it does.
i have marked the connection and the cabling attached too it for any of you Transit whiz kids to help me ID what it is and what it does ,

thanks in advance.

I wonderedwhat it was dome while ago . If you look under the air inlet box below you will see the glowplugs hidden away. Means all thst lot has to be removed if changing them.
That plastic connecter the wire attaches yo gets very hot andgradually degrades.

in this case the plastic connector block which appears to have the remnants of a stud inside is sheared.

that being the case i must be that he currently does not have effective glow plugs.

nothing showing up on the OBD readings.

if its a simple direct connection perhaps i can drill it out and simply fit a new bolt. ( unless there is some form of resistor or other electrical jiggery inside the plastic bit

Yes I would try that. It appears to be some sort of extremely hard plastic but when the ignition is on as they get older you can see smoke appearing around the plastic sometimes. They also always look rusty ,which mine did, & I was going to undo & clean but as soon as i started to attempt to undo it was obvious that te whole lot would shatter so I left it.
It is an odd arrangement? I couldn't see why they could not attach the glow plug wire direct to the copper bar that links the 4 plugs like I had on my Ducato?
