Exp
I'm new
Hi
I’m new to this and have been researching buying a used motorhome for around 6 months
I have a limited budget and can only afford an older model around 2008
I’m currently looking at a knaus van ti md 2008 and an adria compact sl 2009
It will only be for me. Would prefer fixed bed singles or double as I’m upgrading from a go pod and don’t want to make up the bed every night anymore!!
Need somewhere to be comfortable sitting inside on chilly evenings or in the rain!!
Any help advice or suggestions very gratefully received
Many thanks in advance

Thank you for giving me this link and info
I’ll certainly take a look

It just shows how vans are holding their prices. We sold it in March 2015 for £22k

Good to know!

Welcome to Fun.

I'm also a solo traveller with/had similar requirements.

As said layout is so important, top of the list when I was searching.

I spent my time visiting dealers, used of course.

Sitting in vans and visualising scenarios like;

If I want to cook food now, how does that work?
I want to have a shower, what do I need to do?
Bedtime, what does that involve?

And many more scenarios until I had a shortlist.

I found 3As in Carmarthen useful as they leave all the vans open and you can easily move from one to another without a sales person dogging you.

I didn't buy from them but after a few visits I knew what I wanted.

I ended up with an Adria Coral 660SP on a 65 plate for £25k.

For me as a solo traveller it is perfect for me.

Sounds too good to be true. High mileage maybe?

30k.

Had it three years and no major issues.

It wasn't from 3As, a smaller dealer near Ross on Wye.

But I knew it was what I wanted the moment I saw it as a result of my previous research.

I think you should be sharing that garage name so they get more trade. (y) Sounds even more too good to be true that a 2yr old van should go for that price especially from a dealer. Well done in finding such a bargain.

We are relative newcomers (ex boaters who switched to motorhoming more recently). Before buying we did loads of research on this excellent forum and learned the two most important things to try to get right;
1. As has been stressed - Layout is key
2. Payload - making sure we could safely and legally carry everything we wanted.
Without this forum we may well have got one of the points wrong.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

Many thanks

3as are good to look around but not to buy from. Continental motorhomes cross hands have good after service

Welcome to the fun house. :giggle:

Before you buy think about HOW you are going to use it ... for example are you going to venture down narrow country lanes where width may be a consideration, stay on sites where you may need to take a bike etc to get around, or wild camp moving every day or so thus may not need another way to get around.

We had a Chausson Flash 04 and it was a lovely layout BUT it was chubby at 2.3m wide and we found this restricting hence our changing to PVCs for a while and now a narrow A-class.

Once you have determined how/where you want to go with it, you can then look for MHs/campers with the layout that you want within that size.

Thank you for the info
