We are at Cornish farm having some work done at Van Bitz and our boiler has packed up. We went to bed last night nice and warm but woke this morning cold and the red light on the control panel illuminated. We have plenty of gas. I have checked the reset button, the pump is working, there is fluid in the header tank & no air locks. The red light comes on whether I set the control to either hot water & heating only.
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try?
Richard

Not sure if it’s the same thing but has the frost protection valve opened and bumped all the water? May well not be connected !

Sure someone who has a clue will be along soon

UPDATE
In the time it took me to write the above I just set the control to hot water only and the boiler fired up (it wasn't before) I left it a while and then slid the control to water & heating and the red light came on immediately.

Hello from Devon,
I had the same problem, lift off the black top cover of the Alde boiler,
at the back you will see two small fuses, check if they have blown.

PS TURN OFF POWER FIRST

Mike.

Will it stay "fired up" for a while on hot water only you might have to draw some hot water off to give it some work to do, I would expect that the red light is only for the boiler side and shows a failure in the boiler ignition so any fault is within the boiler heating/firing side and the fact that it fails when the pump is put on is simply because it then demands heat and fires up the boiler.

Mike, thanks I'll try but there's not much room in there.
