Off and on for 25 years - more off than on!
Bought an Autotrail Apache earlier this summer first motorhome we have had for a long time. Trying to get used to doing everything correctly and failing! Think we need lots of advice hence joining this forum!

We emptied all the water systems and the van now has a terrible smell like rotten eggs. One of your threads says its bacteria growing in the hot water tank. If we chlorinate the water wont it just happen again when we empty the water to winterise it? What else should we do to prepare for the winter?

Thought it would all be fun...its really an exercise in problem solving!!!!

It's more likely to be from your waste tank, have you left the sink and shower plugs out ? If so that is where the smell is probably coming from:Sad:

firstly...welcome to the FUN.

just a though but have you checked your batteries, are you on hookup and are they on permenant charge while laid up for winter.

the reason i ask is overcharged and knackered batteries smell strongly of sulpher when charged.

could be nothing to do with it but worth a check.

Mmmm.........problem solving is all part of the FUN. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

have you checked the battery is fully charged?

it should be fully charged at point of sale but worth checking.

if you have a volt meter connect across + and - on the battery terminals and if possible on the connector lugs on the wires incase theres a bad connection to the battery, it should read around 12.5 to 13volts.

cant see any serious reason why your electrics shouldnt work if they did before the new battery was installed.

do you have a main on/off switch on the control panel.....might have been turned off by accident.

do the lights work on hookup? if not refer to the above.

there may be a fuse very close to the battery on the +pos wire....has it blown/been disturbed.....worth a look.

hope this helps. i just love problem solving:thumb:
