hello everybody, been looking at this forum for a while and find some of the advice really good,, I have an Autotrail Tracker RB, and I am going away for 4 weeks in September. I would like to take my car and trailer with me. All together it measures around 13.5 metres. I don't have much experience of towing it, and am wondering what you think about taking on the channel tunnel? I'm worried about the driving through the gap to get on the train more than anything.

    Much obliged for any advice.

    Regards
    Ian

    Hello from Kent :welc:

The gap to drive onto the train is huge, coaches drive on. We used to go on with an 8m caravan behind a 5m long car. Just take it slowly.

Hi Ian, sounds like the fun is about to start for you. After you've driven through the huge gap onto the train you'll wonder what you were worrying about. The trailer follows you perfectly and in fact is easier to drive onto the train than a long vehicle like a coach.

I think the idea of going somewhere quiet like Salisbury Central car park is a good one, not that you need the practice it's just that you're confidence will increase significantly. I'm close to Salisbury if you'd like a hand or moral support, all the best......... Griff

As above the gap is very large we have a 8.75 metre van + car on a A frame we never had a problem just let the vehicle in front of you board the train so you can do it in one go without stopping.

Thanks for all the advice,, just remember that if you are delayed for hours on the 5th September by some idiot who crashed into the the train, you all told me to go for it
