Hello from Cumbria (1 Viewer)

We're a couple of relative newbies who having bought a motor-home on the spur of the moment found it cramped so sold it and bought a large caravan and, subsequently, a car powerful enough to tow the caravan safely. Caravanning wasn't our cup of tea so we're now exchanging the caravan outfit for a motor-home outfit this weekend.

Our family think we've lost the plot selling our newish caravan and car for an old 2003 Bessacarr and Citroen C1 so much so that we're now worried that an older motorhome will present all sorts of problems.

Is there anybody out there who can reassure us? 'Bessie' may be old, but she's absolutely beautiful and has the space our first motor-home didn't. Whilst we're slightly worried. we're really looking forward to picking her up.

See. It's easy. No worries

I'd recommend you do the normal checks for damp as that's the biggest issue with Motorhomes, you can buy a damp meter and do it yourself. If you don't feel confident enough then get a mobile caravan service guy to have a look over it for you, it might cost a few pound but could save you loads.
Where are you buying it is it a private sale or dealer.

2003 isn't old, it's mature, plenty much older around.

Got some friends who have bought a MH for the 1st time and that is a 2003 model. Since they got it they are never at home and absolutely love it. All ' vans can throw up problems, irrespective of age, and some will tell you that older vans were better built than new ones. Assuming you have done all the necessary checks don't worry and just enjoy.

Hi Dizzy, I bet you are a bit dizzy with all that chopping and changing but you’re not the first on here that’s taken a few goes to get it right. You’re family’s attitude will change once they see you getting out and about and enjoying yourselves. 2003 isn’t old, as others have said take your time checking everything over, make sure to get everything explained to you. We’re off to Windermere in our 2005 van today and our friends are joining us tomorrow in their 2002 van for the weekend.
