Hi, I have a couple of small pensions that under the new rules next April will give me a relatively small amount of money to draw.

I am torn between buying a classic MGB roadster or a camper van and thought I would register with the forum to see if I can find a few answers and must admit that many have been answered already in the last hour or two.

I work at a farm park visitor centre near Skipton in North Yorkshire that has a small campsite (you may have already spoken to me) so get to see plenty of vans arriving with us and it always looks to be great fun (assuming the weather is fine of course lol)

We want to start to explore the UK and beyond more and both these options will assist in doing that but obviously in totally different ways.

Many questions to follow but bye for now.

Tony

Welcome Tony.
A MGB will give you the grin factor, but a camper van will give you the fun factor,no contest you'll go just as far in a van but sleep better than in a car.

Ooo difficult decision - the other half had a mgb roadster when we first met - very happy memories of being on the road.

Can't you do both??:)

And welcome

Nice thought but we have already committed to a holiday in Florida with 3 of our collective children and pre purchased ( long story ) a new car plus clearing the credit cards down from our wedding and honeymoon earlier this year ( was a cracking time though so worth the cost )

If you have to take kids into consideration then you're always going to get more use out of the motorhome, they're ideal for families :)

No I think we would be looking to purchase a smaller van for just us two and keep our trips away to when the kids are with our respective ex's. Think it would be too stressful to holiday in a van with the kids at 13,14,15,17 and 23 lol

A Hymer motor home has given us the "Fun" factor and we haven't stopped grinning since we bought it, so both bits covered for us.

There's as much driving thrill chucking a 3.5 Tonne motor home around as there is in driving an MGB at today's speed limits, if not more.

Judging by your forum name you sound like just the sort of chap we need at Fun rallies to fill out the Funster band! Get a Motorhome- you won't be able to get your bass, amp and cab in an MGB!

Tony, if you pm Terry (click on conversations top right), he has a couple of campervans for sale ... not sure if they suitable for what you want. Also, he does conversions if you find a van to your specification.

Welcome to Fun

Hello. You come on to a motorhome forum and ask if you should buy one? I'm sure the answer is always going to be YES

Hi Broken Link Removed at the moment I have the 2008 Transit (advertised@£16500-ono px taken or £15000 to a funster but no px) and a 2008 vw caddymax (£12995 ono)--both can be seen on the link straight below (blue writing)
I am thinking of going to Lincoln in the tranny -it's got for sale front and rear of it :)
I will also be tidying my own van up shortly and she will be up for sale as well-she needs some paintwork touching up a good polish and valet -then a good bit of research to find a agreeable price -After that the hard bit comes of actually selling any of the vans :D
Hoping then to move onto doing myself a new van (y);)

Looks perfect, you've done a really professional job. Any idea of price yet? Suspect it might be out of reach............

What is the one parked next to it?

I am in the extremely fortunate position of having both (plus an MG Midget and Pinninfarina spider) but, and this is a very difficult choice, if I had to choose I would have to let the B go. Fun as it is in certain areas overall it cannot match the versatility and potential for fun all year round as the MH.

I'm not dismissing it by any means!!! Just not quite sure exactly what would be my ideal van. Something that sort of size though...............and I do appreciate that I'm not going to have a huge choice with my budget. Certainly anything with low mileage and in good mechanical order is hard to find. I do like the look of it:whistle:
