Hello and thanks for having us!

Welcome to Fun.

May be good to update your profile to indicate which part of the country you reside and what type of MH you have - there are a lot of overhead bed models around. Helps respond more effectively to queries.

Thankyou, will do, just need to charge my phone first!

Thankyou! Looking forward to some fun, here and on the road! ?:D2

Hi and Welcome. Wishing you many good times in your new Motorhome. You still have time to enjoy the rest of the summer and September after the school holidays end and things slow down a bit.

Thankyou, we have tried this one out for several 2 day trips fairly locally, we live in cornwall so loads of lovely places to explore. We tried to get ahead of the game and bought our first pre-loved Moho several months ago but 2 days after someone had a hypo, lost conciousness, crashed into it where it was parked and wrote it off before we had been anywhere! Still luckily no one was badly hurt, we are on the up and love our Hobby already.?

Hi.gif
and a warm welcome from us.

Thankyou, we are already very glad to be here?

Oops, think i accidentally hit a multi quote button somewhere- not sure if that is good or bad so sorry if it's a bad thing!

:welcome4:
We spent almost 2 years on the forum asking all sorts of dumb questions before we bought our Moho. We went to lots of shows and dealers checking out different layouts. We knew nothing before we joined. We've had our van now for 15 months and loved every minute of it. I think we could safely say that we wouldn't have bought a van if we hadn't joined the forum.
Just remember no question is too dumb to ask, they're a great bunch. ENJOY;)

Thankyou, only regret so far is that we didn't get round to doing it years ago! .
We are struggling a wee bit tonight though with regard to the vans security, a house over the road was broken into with the intent to steal the van keys while the occupants were sleeping, luckily they didn't get them, only the car keys which the chucked nearby. We have a steering wheel lock now and an imobiliser already in place, am thinking a cattle prod may be next!! How do other people deal with security fears?

We are fortunate to have built a concrete driveway into which we have a removeable steel post which sits in front of the van. There are many threads regarding a particular alarm system which is as good as they get (the name escapes me)
In the meantime my wee dog tells me if there is anyone around at night!
Just make it as difficult as possible to deter a would be thief

Ahh, we have not got a drive long enough so it is parked right outside on the road but that's an ideal deterrent. I think we will be going down that alarm route asap, i am resisting the urge to get up and check its still there every 2 minutes! Yes, i guess thats all we can do - just make it as awkward as we can and keep fingers crossed, setting booby traps by the door i think too!! Thanks

The length of our drive was the deciding factor to the size of our van hence a 6 metre van! They would also have to remove our car to get the van out of the gate which gives us another layer of security

Hi and welcome, if you have a driver’s swivel seat it may be worth considering swivelling the seat around and padlocking it in that position, just something else to deter the would be thief.
You could also consider fitting a battery isolator switch between the the starter motor and battery

Ours just isn't long enough and the Moho is 6.4 so we will have to do as much as we can to try and prevent it from being take

Thanks for the suggestions Rosemary 1 and Rockcrawler, luckily it's still there this morning! I used a baby alarm near the house window so i could hear the alarm if it went off over the wind as that was very bad. We dont appear to have enough clearance in the swivel seat for a padlock but may be able to use a small bolt and willl look into an isolator switch- that will keep his lordship busy for a few hours today! Thanks again for everyones suggestions ??

Deadlocks on the front doors are a good idea. We have those and we also put a ratchet strap through the door grabs so that the doors cannot be opened from the outside - the strap, which is bright orange, also acts as a visible deterrent. We access the moho through the back door which has two door locks.

Other security items we have are an immobiliser, steering wheel lock, window locks and windows etched with the reg. no.

No doubt, a determined thief would be able to break in but it would take him quite a while and he would probably prefer to move on to an easier target.

Thankyou for all these suggestions, we have a steering wheel lock now, we are definitely going down the alarm route and need to research window locks too, we have a chain for the doors but think a strap may be better. Also need hab door/garage locks so some weekend reading coming on i think!
