On Thursday we are heading to Cornwall for a Minack Theatre concert on Friday night, and staying at C&CC Sennen Cove for 2 nights, then going to Falmouth for 2 nights to see friends. We are fearing traffic gridlock but can anyone tell us if it is as bad as it's made out to be? We will use buses to get around. Wouldn't normally go there on a bank holiday but favourite band playing at Minack, and they don't play gigs often.

Is that Praying for the rain? In which case you don't have to because it is here already! We go to the Minack quite a bit a fabulous venue and by Friday (27th?) the sun will be shining with forecast light winds.
It really is very busy and the Minack area will be rammed so get there very early but generally the serious congestion is limited to pockets. If parking in Falmouth with the van I suggest you use the park and ride, had we been here you could have parked in our drive and taken the bus but sorry we will not be! Overall to us locals it is noticeable how much traffic there is but you will be fine using the van and wondering what the fuss is about away from the obvious hotspots.

Viennese
My bro Pete was down there a week or so back, bus stop on the main road a short walk from campsite I'm told

There are reports that the Covid rate is high in Cornwall. Newquay has 1,000 cases per 100,000, the highest rate in the country.

Where did this info come from? On BBC local news, Sedgemoor in Somerset was stated as second highest area in UK with a lot less than that, highest was up North some where.

As statedNewquay is over 1000 cases per 100,000 BUT that works out as just over 100 people …..a lot but less than earlier in the year

I am guessing because of the enormous number of personel working at Hinkley which is in the Sedgemore catchment.

It is still very busy down here and will be more so next weekend as a bank holiday weekend, Covid rates very high in numerous towns, Newquay, Falmouth, st-Ives and more….

it can be easy to get around if your patient and take care with masks and precautions….

the weather looks to be good for a number of weeks from next Tuesday….

good luck..👍🏼

Bude was busy the other day so took the back road in from the north queuing from the car dealers.

North Devon much quieter which is why we like it!

But also remember there aren't any foreign tourists so that helps usually you see Dutch and German cars around and about not so much this year.

Cheers James

Liam the Terrible, on YouTube, made a recent visit if you fancy checking out the vid he made, cant believe people take everything literally.

A friend of mine has a hotel near Bude. Says the area is the worst he’s ever known it, rammed, with lots of his friends contracting Covid. Good luck!

Take all your own food and drink- if you didn’t book meals weeks or months ago there will be ‘fully booked’ engraved on your hearts. Roads were rammed in southwards direction when we came back M 5 wards Tuesday, place was heaving last week mainly maskless hordes. Hope you enjoy as beautiful there , just chill and don’t expect easy drive

We have just had 10 days at Damage Barton, Morthoe, Woolacombe,N Devon and everywhere is rammed full! 25 yard queues at take aways and fish & chip shops. Car Parks all full by 10:30am. Weather cloudy and drizzle/mizzle for 8 out of the 10 days. I think staycations will be a flash in the pan for this year only!

Newquay just hosted boardmasters 50000 people in a small area is it any surprise numbers are through the roof there.
Granddaughter was there she has Covid now and her friends ! Also son pharmacist working in Looe . Place heaving and staff tested positive . Next day working in Plymouth Superdrug closed as 5 staff positive . Won’t be popping over to visit anytime soon vaccinated or not !

Treliske over whelmed, A&E 4hr wait to be seen out the window, 22 hrs wait for a bed if you are admitted.
Falmouth, Newquay AND, St Ives now the countries Hot spots for CV19 Delta.

County infested with "Entitled Benidormers" Everywhere chocker blocker with maskless idiots!

Enjoy your stay!

Had an appointment at Treliske but received a text saying do not come in to the building wait in the car which I did for over an hour

Back earlier from Penryn Torpoint to Bodmin bypass lightish traffic.
Bodmin bypass to Truro turn off (A39) heavy traffic but moving. But onwards traffic static at the roundabout onwards.

A39 through Truro ring usual stop start slow.
Never went into Falmouth but lots of traffic and heading that way, even busy out on the water.

Didn't see many mask wearers.
Enjoy your travels.

Why go there when this was such an easy prediction
Yes, it baffles me why people go to Cornwall for a beach holiday at peak times and then moan about the crowds. Go somewhere else:

or outside peak holiday times!
