It only took 4 of us to hold him still while the vet shaved his leg and took blood for his rabies titre test. It’s 8 years since his first rabies blood test, but that is no longer acceptable.
Our French vet charged 90 euro altogether 80 for the laboratory and 10 for taking the blood. Our vet in UK wanted £165.

He is gorgeous.
Thank you yes he is, but he’s really hard work. He won’t walk anywhere that involves a road, so once out of the MH it’s a quick penny spent, then back to his den. As he won’t go anywhere, he is not good with unknown dogs, cats, pigeons and any other animal. He loves people. He is shedding at the moment so all his combed fur goes into a pipe outside and the birds queue to take it for their nests.

He looks beautiful. Reminds me of our Philibert who passed away about five years ago age 12 and a half. He was so easy. Such a gentle guy. We didn't have to train him, we just had to show him and he got it. Never had such a clever dog. We now have a Newfie who is also clever but uses it to his own advantage.

I love the name Philibert, he was a lovely looking dog.
We have shared our home with 8 shepherds over the last 46 years. We have always had them in twos, but when Maisie died a few years ago we decided that we would keep Casper on his own. All but one of them lived beyond 11 years which is not bad for big dogs. Sadie picked a nasty tick up in France and died within a few days, so she only managed 6 years.

Sad to hear about the tick. We have had two Newfie's and both had a bad tick. Luckily I noticed they weren't there normal selfs almost straight away and rushed them off to the vet. Only last week out 20 month old boy had one. I noticed he wasn't his his normal self when we woke up at 07:00 At 08:30 he was at the vets being sorted out.
I loved our German Shepherd, He was so cool. but the wife loves Newfie's. The German Shepherd was so easy. I would take him everywhere, never on a leash unless we were on a main road. This stupid Newfie wants to go off and greet everyone.

We have met Casper & can confirm he is a beautiful dog (y)
