Hi All,

Just been reading the Practical Motorhome on the web,

Oven campsite and fishery creek have complained to Havant Borough Council that this is affecting there livelihoods,

So the council have listened to them, and are increasing the fee to £ 10 a night from Nov to Feb and £ 20 a night from March to Oct.

Why can't council's listen to Motorhomers that need these stops as we keep getting ripped off by these campsites ??

So please all be warned

I've never been to Hayling Island so can't speak specifically - though I doubt the council will have many takers at that price.

However, as a general point we have to realise that councils have to balance all sorts of factors including the needs of their local residents and traders as well as visitors (whether in motorhomes or not).

A carefully constructed letter to the council, pointing out the differences in value for money between the council facility and the camp sites, might help redress the balance. You could also ask for copies of the various reports which led to the decision being made and the council's position on how the decision is justified.
