Hope Great Yarmouth council sees it, we tried 4 car parks each one (near empty I should add) saying No motorhomes , campers or trailers.

Living the dream.
When you stop there note down the email address for the council/tourist board and drop them a thank you and tell them what you did while there. We shopped, had a meal out and visited places of interest.
We did and got a lovely reply thanking us for our visit and hoping we return soon. (y)

Yes Hawick is definitely on our list next time we go that way.

Another good one we use is Rye Park Farm at Abingdon just off the A34 and a very nice town with walks by the river. Yes its a lorry park but rarely busy.

http://www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/serv...ocations/abingdon/rye-farmrye-farm-commercial.

It says to notify before but we just make sure we have emailed them before we actually arrive. usually try to do as @Badknee suggests and say thanks and usually say what a nice meal we had at X etc.

This was for the Hawick Common Riding. Each of our Border towns has a similar festival and worth checking when these are on as streets can be closed and parking becomes difficult. The Haugh cannot be used on Friday's or Saturdays as those days are for the street market

Hawick is great for MHs, its just a pity that the rest of community councils in the Borders don't copy their lead. Recently the Community Council in Peebles has been trying to get MH parking in one of the carparks south of the river stopped altogether.

Recently the Community Council in Peebles has been trying to get MH parking in one of the carparks south of the river stopped altogether.

That's disappointing as it will put a lot of MH's off going to rallies in the area who are not fit enough to be able to walk along the river into town. The car park is an ideal location. Where are they suggesting we park?

Its the overnighters they are wanting to stop. Normal day parking is ok.

If Birmingham opened there car parks for motorhomes they would be swamped with travellers.

That looks a nice stopover. I have been surprised previously at how nice parts of Essex are once you get away from the new towns.

Although I confess I did have to google Thaxted.

It is a long way to drive for a car park. Apart from the ferry and looking across the water to Felixstowe Not sure why you would drive that distance to park.....:)
