BBC Look North have just run a story regarding the possible closure of Hawes Auction Mart, the problem is around a rateable revaluation whereby rates will increase next year from £7k to a stonking £47k pa.
Hawes Auction Mart is used as a rally meet by a number of clubs, and enjoys a great location near the town centre and cheesy factory (Wensleydale, Gromett!).
Obviously of more concern to the local economy is the loss of the Mart, but presumably if that goes then the opportunity to rally there will too.

Since 2014
they can appeal and there is a scheme for transitional relief
It was said that the appeal process takes up to 3.5 years!!
Its madness, small businesses are going to be decimated, the Treasury won't even notice and blame Brexit instead.
