I have easily obtained a correct emissions sticker for Germany, however, after a lot of email exchanges with the French Crit'air government department I am getting nowhere. Perhaps I have got it wrong, but our motorhome is 3.4 t and therefore under the 3.5 t band and it was first registered 01/03/2007.
When you apply for a Crit'air on the website there is a choice of 5 categories:
Private car (class M1)
Light Commercial Vehicles (Class N1)
Motorcycles (Class L3e L4e L5e or L7e)
Mopeds (Class L1 e, L2e or L6e)
Heavy Goods Vehicles (Class M2 M3 N2 or N3)
There is no category for a motorhome so the nearest is a Private car. I emailed and explained this to them but as yet have not received guidance on which category it should be.
I filled in the form to the best of my ability. https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/demande-ext/cgu
This simulator came out with Level 3, even if I changed the vehicle category to Light Commercial vehicle which it is not. Perhaps motorhomes even those under 3.5t are categorised as HGVs for some reason? In that case it would be a level 4, not level 3 so the french are right.
I could not fill in indication of the environmental category as it is not shown on the registration certificate.
Neither could I fill in the CO2 in g/km.
I attached the registration document and a few days later they sent back an invoice for sticker level 4. According to the page advising on which category your vehicle comes in it should be Level 3.
Level 4 as far as I can understand is for vehicles registered prior to Jan 2006.
I have explained this many times by email - all I got back last time was 'please reorder being more fussy about the informations' - French bureaucracy at its finest.
Reordered and this morning received an invoice for yet another Level 4 sticker.
