They have in uttoxeter ?

LPG filling spots have been disappearing for a couple of years, but now they are going fast. Petrol, Hybrids and Leccy cars are the focus of makers. The low and decreasing number of LPG users just doesn't make economic sense to the forecourt operators.

In 5 years I doubt you'll be able to give your Gaslow bottles away while Mr Calor rubs his hands and we all go back to buying his overpriced bottles.

One of the two shells in Basingstoke have stopped selling lpg.

I need gas and the one that's still doing had building work going.on and I can't get to pump

Strange thing in uttoxeter though, they put a new pump in last year  :doh:

They are keeping the ones that make money but inevitably as they roll out charging stations thay need the space that gas tanks use to create charging points.

I've just changed van, old van had Gaslow but the new (to me) one doesn't have a refillable system.
Now wondering if it's worth having it fitted. We do go to the continent a couple of times a year so the different bottles would be a bit of a faff.

We filled up at our local Shell for The August bank holiday weekend. It’s very convenient so I hope they don’t stop.

In my current van I have the twin 11kg Gaslow system, its has been superb and serves me well where I use it in France for 6 weeks a year, with constant BBQ's, hot water and daily use of an oven to bake bread I have only ever used part of one bottle, for extended use out there the ease of filling it at an LPG station is very appealing.

Now my concern following on from a comment by dear old Jim our leader in another thread is the fact that LPG stations seem to be disappearing (https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/have-shell-stopped-selling-gas.204589/#post-3492387), as I fill up my gas when I come off the Eurotunnel on the M20 services which then lasts another year this has not been a problem for me, UNTIL I bought 2 x Safefill ( http://www.safefill.co.uk) tanks for my BBQ's, I have noticed when trying to get them refilled not only do a lot of forecourts stop you as they see them as a danger not being fixed to a van, but my local LPG stations have also disappeared, so by the time you drive miles for gas it defeats the object of convenience and saving money.

I am buying a new van and am having a new twin gaslow system installed, its not cheap, maybe I should have removed my as new system from the old van before selling but thought that could be a selling point to the right person. SO what do I do? do I cancel the new system which is not cheap, transfer the old to the new, or just go back to plain old bottled gas in the new van.

I am retired but my wife is a lot younger so it will be many years before she retires, so I can't see us setting off into the sunset and enjoying LPG touring Europe long term any time yet. The other option is to find an older woman (still a bit younger than me with all her teeth) and take her, but having looked in the attic the other day the thought of divorce, which would happen if I went off with a another bird, just fills me with horror, its just seems too much work!

Any ideas and advice would be appreciated, I need to make a decision ASAP (y)

The Truma D or other diesel boiler/heater suddenly seems an attractive option doesn't it.

This could become a big problem for anyone with integrated gas tanks. Even if I wanted to I’d have no means or space to carry a stand-alone bottle in my pvc

We noticed plenty of stations in Germany/Netherlands/Belgium so all is not lot just yet.

We did see some rediculous prices, in France I think, close to diesel price.

They aren't disappearing on the "Fill LPG" app. When it updates it totals 3 statistics...

Added, removed, and updated.

Every few days one is added or deleted but mostly they are just updated.

Even if they do all dissappear from forecourts you'll still be able to get it from distribution plants (probably?)

I wouldn't be too fussy about the teeth, but clearing the attic, ooof, no way.

Our local Calor depot has a pump (and surprisingly good prices) and I assume others have similar. Some refrigerated trucks use it for the freezer engine so its available from certain HGV DERV stations. Kendal is a small market town & I still have a choice of three Autogas/LPG places within 5 miles.

I have safefill

TBH, I have never filled at a petrol station, only at independant gas dealers

I'd go for the Gaslow. There may be reducing numbers of Autogas stations but there are commercial users of pumped LPG. And with a motorhome you'll always be passing somewhere.

The reason we have a refillable system installed was to be able to get gas abroad, where Calor don't sell. I not noticed any station closing down in France etc. but there again I don't use many but have never failed to find one when needed.

Services on the A3 just past the tunnel heading South (each side of the road opposite each other) both have LPG @ 63p ltr

Shell at Podimore A303 near Ilchester and then the one at the Taunton end of the Ilminster bypass both selling it. I used the Podimore one on my way to Malvern show.

Someone on here got a system for sale looks a bargain if you do go for it

Shell at outskirts of Grimsby on A180 has ceased selling LPG...

Had to travel to Sth Killingholme Refinery Filling Station NJB services on A160

A couple of BP garages around our way have replaced their LPG pumps with new ones, so they obviously plan on continuing to supply for a while.
