After a lot of faffing about I fixed my Alde 3000 heating on gas the other week (EHU was fine). It seems the on off switch on the control panel was cuffed!.

Fast forward 2 weeks and muggings here decides to fit a twin 11 kgs Gaslow system to the van. There had been one in the van previously as there was a filler nozzle in the door.

Because I am stupid I bought 1 bottle first and fitted that last week and kept a normal Calor bottle in the locker alongside. I filled the new Gaslow up and showed the cleverer one in our marriage and she thought it was great. everything working fine and Alde pumping out the heat like a champ.

This week I decided that I needed a second Gaslow and balls to the Calor so ordered the requisite parts and fitted them yesterday.

First Gaslow bottle is showing 50% full and second one is empty as I have not filled it yet.

This morning the ALDE had failed to light on gas and will not work.

Is this a Gaslow issue perhaps or a pressure issue?

It seems strange that the day I put a second al be it empty bottle on, the ALDE refuses to light.

Thoughts on a postcard appreciated!!!

Could be a number of things.

Is the hob working?

If you have a Truma Duo CS regulator there is a little green button on it you need to press and hold in for 5 or 10 seconds. Does anything else work on gas?

This may sound stupid, but have you turned the 50% full cylinder on?
And does anything else work on gas?

Yes gas is on, yes regulator is fine and hob and fridge work!

Ive spoken to Gaslow (who are awesome with their customer service btw) and they will call me back tomorrow .

Must just be coincidence if other things are working. Can you light the ALDE with a lighter? 🤔

I think you should be contacting Alde.
Does it work on EHU?

Spoken to Alde too, and yes fine on EHU.

System is firing up and trying to light but cutting out.

I will fully fill the system tomorrow to make sure its not a gas pressure issue between the 2 Gaslow bottles.

Its just too convenient that the gas stopped working the day i put a second gaslow bottle on.

I had the system running on gas on an off for over a week as it took me 18 months to figure out why it wasn't working on gas initially!

Knowing my luck, i will have blown the burner or the electrodes!

If it is a new burner, i will need to remove the whole box to get to it as there is about 2 inches of space!!!!

??
Could this be a similar problem, then?
I'd agree that the recent changes are likely to be the cause.

There could be air in the system from the new bottle, did you open the valve?

I have run all the gas appliances for a few minutes and have turned the alde on and off about 20 times. I have a strange feeling that because the bottles are linked, its dropping the pressure sufficiently for the alde to have a hissy fit. First thing tomorrow i will fill the system fully and see. failing that its burner swap out time!!!

While ever there is liquid LPG in either of the bottles the pressure won't drop much, it's more related to temperature.

Moral of the story. When it works, stop faffing!!!!

Can you return the system to how it was when last working?
Then move forward, one step at a time if that corrects the problem.

Yes, it could be the regulator but I can't think what might have caused that, and I'd expect no gas appliances to work.
If the Alde is a long pipe run from other gas appliances, it could be that that pipe needs purging.

Hi

Firstly I will fill the Gaslow to max and see if that works. if not, I will put the calor bottles back on and see if it works then. Failing that...new burner!!!

I would try a different regulator before I bought a new burner (probably a lot cheaper too ?) If your regulator was on the way out (they don't last forever) it maybe hasn't taken kindly to being disconnected and moved around ?
Heating systems use significantly more gas than fridges/cookers and the heating not working, while other devices do can often be down to a failing reg.

I would say its an issue with the ALDE heater or regulator nothing to do with Gaslow fitting except maybe allowing air into the system that needs to be cleared. I would run the other appliances for a good time to rid the air and also look at the ALDE and any errors coming up.

I hadn't thought of that tbh as the regulator is not even 2 years old and the gas bottles I have removed for the Gaslow are the only ones I have used with the regulator so its only had 2 13kg bottles worth of gas through..

the manual is saying its either a gas flow issue or the burner

After a period of storage our fridge takes ages to fire up on gas, usually I have to reset it a couple of times before gas reaches the burners but after that it's fine. I'd be trying to check there is actually gas at the alde burner before doing anything else. With both bottle taps open it may be taking a while for gas to pass through the system.

Now recheck your connections - are you sure you've (a) got the correct second bottle (they're different) and (b) the connections are all correctly made.

But after that I'd put money on a failing regulator.

Now the big question is do I get an auto change over regulator or find something more robust!!

Get an auto changeover regulator, fill both bottle full and test.

Stupid question ..is valve on second bottle on.if system is autochange over?
🍻

Don't use an autochanger, much prefer to know when a bottle (I've got two) has run out so I can plan accordingly. Yes it always runs out at inconvenient times but I'd rather that than find myself with no gas and no warning.

And it's something else to go wrong. I'm a great fan of the KISS theory.

the regulator thats in there now was put in in 2021 and its got a red/green thing that shows when gas it present. Everything was fine until i added the second gaslow bottle. Think ill rip it out and put the calor back on to see first. although it worked fine for a few days with the one gaslow bottle fitted

What make and model regulator as sounds like an auto changeover one maybe? As TerryL says may take a long while to get gas through, can you post some pictures of the set up it may help to diagnose.
