We were there on Monday night - the following morning we unexpected met up with Trixie, Cal54 etc which was nice! Told them the quick route to get to ET rather than the scenic one which once took us into the truck bit!!!
None that I know of. Have to join motorway for a few hundred yards.Someone mentioned the quick route from the tunnel to Cite Europe, but is there another in reverse?
I always end up going back to the motorway

I am not sure, but I think that it was gated. Was there last week.If anyone is at Cite Europe and they have some time to spare would they mind having a shuftie at the exit from near the new Pet Passport centre out into CE's back road and seeing if it is possible to actually go INTO the ET Pet Passport road - we didn't have time to look when we were there but it would be useful to know as there'd then be no need to have a tour round the CE site/A16 to get to ET!

There is a 'gate' on the gap in the fence but it is left open as it's an official 'exit' from ET for those who can't/don't want to go ahead on a crossing, so I'm assuming it's left open most of the time as you wouldn't be able to get into the actual port area as the check-ins are after that.I am not sure, but I think that it was gated. No it's not! Got looked at rather sternly its a staff entrance with security barriers and card access! If anyone is at Cite Europe and they have some time to spare would they mind having a shuftie at the exit from near the new Pet Passport centre out into CE's back road and seeing if it is possible to actually go INTO the ET Pet Passport road - we didn't have time to look when we were there but it would be useful to know as there'd then be no need to have a tour round the CE site/A16 to get to ET!

Don't know when that was but when we were there on Tuesday morning at the Pet Passport centre I actually walked THROUGH the fence entrance itself, nothing to stop me or a car, no checks, no people, nothing ... this is the entrance BEFORE you go to the check-in etc so you're not yet into the 'secure' area - are you mixing it up with the one that you can use AFTER the checking as that does have security on it or is it a while since you've been?No it's not! Got looked at rather sternly its a staff entrance with security barriers and card access!
This is what it was like previously with the barrier which you can see on the left side of the picture:No it's not! Got looked at rather sternly its a staff entrance with security barriers and card access!

Yes the road to/from the pet passport area is now 2-way otherwise you couldn't go back to the check-in area once you've sorted out your pets (not one way as it shows on the old view), but it's the bit FROM Cite Europe's road into the PP road that I'm interested in ... I can't see any reason why you can't now go IN though that gate instead of having the 'motorway' tour to get to check-in.I could be wrong, I often am, but from memory a couple of weeks ago if you pull out of the pet passport area the road sign straight ahead of you says left grand Bretagne right city Europe.

... but no point in having a 'tour' round if you don't need to especially when you've got 3 dogs to check in first.I know we all like a short cut but after driving a couple of thousand miles all round France it is only a few minutes/km from Cite Europe to the tunnel check in vie the A16. Not worth the bother of trying to save half a minute imho.
Richard.
Ahh, the dogs would explain it.... but no point in having a 'tour' round if you don't need to especially when you've got 3 dogs to check in first.
