Has anyone done their own PDI before accepting new motorhome or would dealer go mad? (1 Viewer)

We were invited to view our new Motorhome February 2017 shortly after it was delivered to the dealer and before the PDI was carried out.

During our visit we pointed out a few problems and the salesman agreed and said don't worry they will be corrected during the PDI.

When we collected it - none of the problems had been sorted so we had to spend our time and fuel to return to the dealers to get the problems sorted.

Hi Andrew, Just out of interest what was the make of your first van & was it new?
And what was the make of your second van, was that new also?

Hi Les and Tina,

Yes, both vans were new. The first was an Autoshed Imala Hi-line and now we have a Pilote low profile.

The big positive about the Autoshed is that it made the Pilote look like the best brand in the world.:xcool:

Best wishes,

Andrew

We recently collected our new PVC from West Country Motorhomes.

We had a good handover by the staff who then suggested we took “an hour or two” to familiarise ourselves with the unit and check any systems. They left us too it but answered our queries and demonstrated anything we didn’t understand. (All user Manuals are on line now to download, so we hadn’t yet done so).

We collected on a Sunday, when their workshops were closed. The electric step extension is adjustable and we wanted more projection, but the sales person couldn’t remember how to do it. He promised us a phone call from their workshops the next morning to talk us through it.

By 10am we had received the call, had the procedure explained step by step as we did it, and all was fine.

After a shakedown trip of 1,200 miles around Belgium and France our only problem was that we found the screws securing the striker plate on the gas locker were too short and the catch was loose. I have since replaced them myself.

Everything else worked perfectly so the dealer PDI must have been good. We have learned, by experience to take our time when collecting a new m/h. A good dealership should have no problem with that.
