Can it be done? Ive seen a benimar 264 that almost fits mums criteria except its only got 2 gas rings. Is it easy enough to change to one with 3 gas rings and any ideas of costs involved.?

Should be no problem provided it will physically fit & not leave any hole where the old one was. I changed the cooker, fridge, boiler, heater, toilet & shower tray & cubicle in my son's van.

I am just trying to repair my gas hob - one of the hinges which hold the glass top has broken, and I can confirm that it is a fairly simple job to remove it. The only issue you could find is that the gas fitting seems to have been made by a left handed leprechaun! There is VERY little room to expose the incoming gas supply, and disconnect it. Other than that, there will be a simple 12v electrical connector for the igniter, and my three burner hob was only held in with four wood screws, one in each corner. The old one may well be stuck in with old food round the rubber seal!!

Don’t forget to turn off the gas before you start any dismantling!

Costs are something else! A secondhand two burner steel hob went on eBay for £60 the other week, but you mostly get older models, rather than the newer, stainless steel ones. New, three burner hobs are around £250 on eBay.

Easily replaced,, though I got Johns Cross to do mine. The hobs are ridiculously expensive for what they are though (as most things in motorhomes are)

now this is interesting, was it an independant hob or the hob for a cooker, mine is well used and looks it would love to change it.

Mine is an independent hob - the oven is another module down amongst the drawers!!

If the hob is part of a complete cooker - hob, grill, and oven, then replacing just the hob might be tricky. I suspect that the hobs we are discussing here are not designed to sit immediately above a heat source like an oven/grill, but I may be wrong!
