An electric one would be zero tax, zero insurance, zero MOT....that's what I think they are talking about. Our petrol one does 140mpg so can't see the point in an electric one. Unless you're talking about a Zero
It will need insurance. An electric one would be zero tax, zero insurance, zero MOT....that's what I think they are talking about.
Who is going to insure it for nothing? An electric one would be zero tax, zero insurance, zero MOT....that's what I think they are talking about.

2 up on an electric moped will be dangerously slow, about 25mph on the flat.Has anyone bought an electric moped for their van? Looking to be able to get a two-up range of 50 miles for getting out and seeing the local area.
Cheers for any help/advice in advance
A pal bought an electric bike (24v motor) for 20 quid (no battery) at a steam rally autojumble and fitted both his m/home batteries to it. Worked a treat.I can't find any info on batteries or charging them but I would have thought it would kill your leisure batteries unless you have a large Lithium bank.
Electric mopeds are legal , it's the scooters that aren'tPoints on license, fine confiscation.
I will wait until the Government make a firm decisio.
I do want one though
I quite fancy this model:Er .... anyone checked that their MH can carry one of these safely slung on the back? Just asking.
3hp or 2100w that's a far bit of poke - like Chris Hoy or Jason Kenny in full sprint!!I quite fancy this model:

£3k (a bit expensive).
70kmh top speed (you'll need CBT license)
100km range (can be extended with the £3500 model, or is more if driven in one iof the more efficient modes).
113kg total weight. Powerpack is 11kg - so 100kg "slung on the back".
26ah powerpack with a 5.5hr charge time.
I reckon that is a very usable machine - and very convenient for overseas when not wanting to take the moho everywhere and not wanting to tow a car.
There are an increasing number of makes about now - I think it's quite exciting. I've been riding a Chinese-import electric scooter now for a couple of years for final mile commute (yes, I know it's not yet legal - but they are so convenient). There was a stall at the Norfolk motorhome show the weekend. They were £2,800 and claimed to do 100 km to a charge,Cant remember the make of them.
With all that weight on the back I bet he can pull some spectacular wheelies!A pal bought an electric bike (24v motor) for 20 quid (no battery) at a steam rally autojumble and fitted both his m/home batteries to it. Worked a treat.

Just this minute noticed this very interesting listing which couldn’t have come at a better time. Very, very interesting. I’m looking for a 2-seater, not too big but obviously will carry 2 with ease and give a good battery life and light enough to fit in my PVC on the bed when travelling or between the rear bench seats.Bumble Bee Moped EBikes Stingray | Moor EBikes

On reflection, i was definitely a little hasty, it will not fit on the bed, far too heavy at 95kg. The Knaap is only 25kg, a genuine 2-seater as well, so should be manageable. The range of the Scorpion not good either. How will you lift it onto the bed? Its 95kg! 30 mile range probably means 20 in reality. 30 mph solo and hills up to 30deg, probably means slower two up. Alright in the city perhaps.
I have one of these: https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/silence/s01/2021/ But its a proper scooter and nearly £5000. So comparable with a petrol Honda 125 at £3000-£3500. Its 110kg without the battery, so lives on a rack on the back of my Hymer with the battery in the garage. 60 miles is the honest range. 80 claimed. We use it two up and with a top box on the back. So all helmets and clothing go under the seat or in the box. When you come out of the supermarket and put the gear on, all the shopping goes in. Its working well for us so far.
I tested and studied most bikes available at the time. But there are more now I think.
I have had a electric scooter for 2 years absolutely love it. Now it’s getting impossible to ride with police clamping down on them more than they do DRUG DEALERS a Doctor last week doing his rounds got pulled and was given 6 points on his license and had to pay £150 to get his scooter back. Yet yobs can legally ride these city scooters on the side walk doing 17 mph plus. They don’t wear helmets or protection but this is legal. It’s a joke. They talk about one YouTube girl dying after been hit by a lorry. How many cyclist have been killed on the road? I think it’s just a government fiddle only their scooters allowed. Some big back gander going on there. Yet they allow Halfords Curys to sell them. Mine has disc brakes and ABS the company has been making them since 1989 and before that made motor bikes yet can’t be legal. GrrrrHas anyone bought an electric moped for their van? Looking to be able to get a two-up range of 50 miles for getting out and seeing the local area.
