Just a note to confirm that advice given in earlier years is still sound.

If you turn up at harwich ferry port the night before a trip across you can park by the perimeter fence.

I checked with a person in the cafe / loo block place and she confirmed that people do it all the time. The only caveat was that we should not leave the van unattended.

You can park safely down Harbour Crescent, overlooking Felixstowe docks.

I was early for the Danish Seaways ferry in Harwich last year when I noticed a wiper blade had split. Hmm, I thought I'll google on my new smartphone and see what it comes up with. Halfords - 5 miles away, got time for that I thought so without checking too closely I followed the directions. 5 miles back up the A120 it was now showing 10 miles to destination until on closer investigation I realised it was sending me to Felixstowe which had been quite close across the water. It seemingly didn't connect the distance by road with as the crow flies. I managed without a new blade.
