We have been staying on a quiet farm CL near Melton Mowbray for a while now, and have been adopted by a couple of young hares.

The people in the other van on the CL thought we had brought a couple of pet rabbits with us!

Just rabbits I think.....

Definitely leverets ( young hare ) , we have them in our garden ,
distinguished by long dark ears , back raised much higher than a rabbit when walking

Lovely creatures..you are lucky..
Why have they taken to you do you think..

They already are around here, saw three blokes out in the fields with long dogs yesterday morning.

Not so lovely if you have young tree's around, I used to help out on a friends large fruit farm and a regular job was "persuading" the Hares to frequent "elsewhere", the damage they cause to young tree's is amazing (and rather expensive)

Years ago they would put decent fences to keep animals out as well as stock in. Used to have deer fences as they would love to eat the fruit trees.

Personally I would prefer a decent rifle. But it wouldn't be the leverets in my cross hairs. It would be the coursers, scum the lot of them
