Just bought an awning for the motorhome. Now the question is, what sort of floor covering do I get? A lot of the carpets I see seem designed for a grass pitch. If I put one of those on a hard standing gravel pitch it will get shredded when I walk on it. Anyone bought a covering that is strong enough for a hard standing pitch with stones?

The ones made by Kampa to fit their awnings are quite good, I would avoid the Moroccan mats as their quality is now dubious, not like the ones from a few years ago.

We used to put heavy duty PVC form the "feretaria" under ours on Stone pitches, and then dump it in the skip when we left. But that was when we stayed for months on end, on sites in Spain.

I’m on hardstandings a lot and the Isabella Bolan awning carpet I bought over two years ago is virtually as good as the day I bought it.

I also bought the Isabella clips and pegs to keep it in place, but I’ve never needed to use them.

We had the Kampa carpet to fit the awning and a groundsheet of the same size underneath

How about artificial grass, would that work? It would look good.

The other thing with the Isabella Bolan carpets is they do 3 different grades. We’ve found the heaviest weight is fine on hard standing. We used to carry an old lighter weight one from a slightly smaller awning to use as “underlay” on very stony surfaces but no longer bother.

We’ve been using our Kampa awning carpet for 3 years now. First with the caravan and now with the motorhome just as a carpet. Been on all types of surfaces without issue!

Awning carpets. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Shoes work okay, it’s just another lump to add to the unnecessary stuff you don’t really need.

just a door mat and a old pair of slippers for me does a good job and don’t weigh to much ::bigsmile:

I use an old Persian type rug. Tough as an overcooked steak and adds an air of exotica!
