Coming to my final choices for 4 new tyres for my 3500kg MH. Tyre size 225/75 R16 116.

The Hankook RA18 (C-C-70) Good reviews, quite at 70db and slightly cheaper at £560 fitted. Summer tyre.

Continental Vanco camper (C-B-72) A camper tyre and Summer rated. £650 fitter (is it M&S like Mich Camper)

Continental 4 Seasons (C-A-73) All weather, high on breakings and £656 fitted

Michelin Agilis Cross Climate (C-A-73) All weather and v similar spec to Conti 4 Seasons- £587 with current 15% offer at qwikfit

Would appreciate thoughts on above. Currently favouring the Cross Climate as I do travel to Spain in Jan and March and will use MH in early Spring and Autumn in UK (currently enjoying Lynmouth Devon for a few days)

Additional question if I may - Current tyres are Michelin Camper which I have done 37K miles on without problem other than the harsh ride. They are rated as M&S (Mud and Snow?) and a summer tyre(?) The Hankooks are quoted as Summer tyres without a M&S rating. Does this imply that they will not be as effective on mud and snow as the Michelin Campers?

Thanks in advance....

You opened a can of worms there... plenty recently on this very subject and you will not get a definative answer..
However I have Cross Climates on my van and can't fault them.
Lots of negative views on Michelin camper tyres.... Standby 🤣🤣🤣😋😋

I need 2 front tyres. Read the threads on here and confused more than ever. Guess this thread will go same way with no definite answer BUT will follow with interest 👍👍

4Season for us, though £656 sounds very expensive. I bought five 225/70 15 for £115 each through our local independent tyre fitter a couple of years ago.
I priced them up on one of the online sites, printed it off, showed it to my local independent and asked if they would match it.

Not camping tyres. They provide an awful ride. They are supposed to last longer than a standard tyre if the vehicle is left standing for long periods. But there are plenty of examples on this forum of people having the tyre crack apart when they are only a few years old.

Personally I've got Continental VanContact 4Season (note these are different from the Vanco FourSeason). The reason being that Continental publish a handbook that tells you what tyre pressure to run for a particular axle weight. So with my relatively light motorhome, I've got published tyre manufacturer paperwork that says 50psi is suitable, whereas my van's manual states a tooth rattling 80psi.

If it is the vehicle in avatar the existing rears go on the front & the new go on the back for safety.

Do they do that in the UK as for that size here it is only in 121/120 weight rating,M&S & 10 ply?

We've found the Michelin Agilis Cross Climate are excellent all season tyres with much reduced road noise over the Continentals we had previously.

What sort of pressures do you run at. My Michelin CP tyres run at 80psi rear & 65 front. Thanks

Quite a few Funsters have had sidewalls cracking on the Cross Climates, if you do a search you will find the info.

I fitted Toyo Observe Van and have been very pleased with them. One advantage of them is they are not directional.

Carthago are now fitting Continental 225/75 R 16 118 All Season (3 peaks) Camper tyres. Another one to add to the mix. However I have not been able to find one listed anywhere as yet, as I would like to get one for a spare.

Anyone found these tyres in the UK - my search came up blank!

I have Michellin camper on ours sticker on door frame says 5.0 bar front 5.5 on rear , would it make a difference if I lowered both settings ,and what about insurance complications if involved in bad accident if not at the recommended pressure , the ride is a bit hard , only done 4k so long way before I change them .

Totally delighted with the cross climates on our MH. Wonderful ride and great grip.

Another new kid on the block to mention. see below

I recently had fitted four Yokohama All Season.
Fitted and supplied by National Tyres, including new high pressure valves.
They have the all weather symbol.
They are quieter, smoother ride, far better grip on grass and have improved fuel consumption.
Total fitted price £370

I had four Hankook RA 18 Vantra LT 215/70s15 tyres fitted back in 2018 for £370 including metal valves. And although they are marketed as summer tyres they are also marked with S&M on sidewall.
Have driven them around UK, France, Spain and Portugal with no problems. Nice and quite with plenty of grip, have not got stuck in sand, mud or had problems stopping in the rain.........................personally I would not hesitate in fitting them again, although I guess the price has gone by now!
On my 3.5t Citroen Relay based conversion I run them on 55psi front and 60psi on rear which gives us a comfy ride with no odd tyre wear.

Just shelled out for the Cross Climates, should be able to sell on the Michellin Camper tyres as they only have @ 2000miles on them.

Howard B -- can I ask where you got your Cross climate and the price please? Mine will be 225/75 R16 116 or greater

They wil be £590 fitted from Formula1 Tyres in Basingstoke. They are a 118 load tyre. Not getting them fitted until the 19th.
