Hi all

In need of new handbrake cable for Rapido 9090F on Alko chassis. I understand that the Alko cable is nearly £200.00 with postage. Anyone know of anyone who manufactures cables from a pattern which should be cheaper.

We used Hindle Controls to make up special brake cables for our drawbar turntable trailer.

24 Hour delivery from a verbal description and excellent workmanship.

If it is a garage that has told you your handbrake cable is beyond adjustment I would get a second opinion. One MOT station told me a load of tosh and when I went elsewhere the following year they found no issue with it. Also said my rear bushes on the control arms were nearly worn out  there are simply liars out there.

Good morning,
If you have a Fiat based van with Alko chassis the hand brake can be inefficient if not set up correctly. Has the cable broken ? If I recall Techno 100 wrote about this a couple of years ago.
Once set up correctly handbrake is very good but all adjustment needs to be taken back & started again from scratch.
Don't just try to tighten the cable, makes things worse.
Barrie.

Yes I did
Yes the starting point is setting the handbrake shoes correctly within the disc drums. Mine has past two Mots since the first tosser said they were borderline  ( and may need a very expensive cable guv )
