Want to wash the van roof and wondered if anyone can recommend one of the above. Fed up of having to ferry buckets of water up a ladder. A hose pipe is not an option unfortunately!

Ouch that sounds like hard work.
its bad enough when you can get a hose to it

If you get a lightweight spray pump there'll be nowt in it, or a big one will be heavy so you're back to square one. The problem is unsolvable 👍😊

Id wait until rain is forecast and wash it in the rain although your neighbors will think you're bonkers

So you can but flat soft floor mops with a spray bottle attached Addis or Band M do them… any good ? Either that or pump garden sprayer vessel ?

We use a big 4 litre pump up garden sprayer with a wand on the end of the hose. Made a wand extension using some alloy tube bought from the local DIY store at the same time. No fiddling required - it is exactly the same diameter for the screw fittings and I can now easily reach the centre of the roof etc from either side, or by poking my head and arm out of the skylight. Works a treat to clean the roof & solar panel and full only weighs around 4 and a bit kg. It has a shoulder strap so easy to use on a ladder - or the Memsahib can just hand it up and I stand it on the roof. Brilliant for cleaning the wheels, as well as de-flying the bonnet and windscreen on arrival. As it is a spray it doesn't get the pitch soaked as well, so you don't get the hairy eyeball you get if you use a bucket. Highly recommend. Broken Link Removed

If mains electricity is available, you could use a submersible water butt pump, with a hosepipe attached. You'd need a big tub that you could fill with half a dozen buckets at least. If no mains, a battery version is available.

Why on earth would you want to wash the roof when pitched on a site...
Our lane is too narrow and steep to park in so we have to keep the van in a storage area next to a site. There's no water or power there, so we have to wash it either in lorry washes with a gantry, or take the telescopic ladder for a break with us and do it when on site.
And while I will confess to having stayed in my parents caravan as a kid (ah, those old gas lights hissing away) - no, I have never felt the need or desire to drag half a ton of mixed glass fiber and plywood precariously balanced on an axle that would make Twiggy's leg look like an international prop's in comparison, around the country behind a car!

You see plenty of tuggers doing it though.
Pitch up then out with a bucket of water and the various polishes.
Maybe it's an excuse to get away from a moaning partner, I dunno!

I have yet to use it on the roof of the PVC (done ths sides) and used it to clean the Honda. One battery charge easily does 3 buckets of water.

Worx Hydrashot 20v power washer. Its hose should reach the roof easily once I get up that step ladder.

Not to be confused with a real pressure washer, which it isn't.

Thanks every one, I have no intention of using it on a site though, that would interfere with lounging about in the sun and having a vino or two😂 however the roof is manky so will have to be cleaned. Hate doing it cos then you have to do the whole motorhome. !

No, that’s a good idea.
Like pressure washing a drive or patio when raining.
Stops the dirty water with silt in drying thus enabling said muck to be kept moist and easy to swill to a grate or otherwise.
Same with MoHo van roof! 😊👍

Why on earth would you want to wash the roof when pitched on a site..... Or are you an ex-caravan owner. ::bigsmile:
My mate rarely stays anywhere more than 2 nights. He will clean van on arrival.
Any time he stops, during the day windscreen is cleaned plus side windows and mirrors. He's same at home with the van and cars. You can't park at his place with a dirty vehicle. He even washed mine when I arrived in 2019 and had to go straight out. (y)
