Good morning,
Easter is coming and rather than buy our grandsons chocolate or give them money we are thinking about buying them a hand pan or hand drum ( same thing I think)? They all play an instrument so think they would like this and sharing one would be fine. There are loads on Amazon etc so wondered If anyone could make a recommendation ?
Many thanks
Pam

Broken most bits now
Hang drums are ludicrously expensive to get the better sound quality. If you're not sure if it will be there thing or not then a budget 9-10 note drum would be a good starter but even they are not cheap at £200ish

Depending on age, I would be a bit p….ed off if I wasn’t given choccy or money and got a drum to share!

quite a few years now, and loving every minute..
are your grandsons twins, sounded as if they might be from your post, in which case if they are going to share a hang drum then maybe a little choccie or whatever is their favourite sweeties to dive into whilst the other is playing..

They will definitely get some choccy in with the drum. Yep twin boys of 11 and one boy of 12. They love music, all play together, one on guitar, one on clarinet and one trumpet. so think they would find it fun and would use it a lot. They are also very close , fall out very little. As they are so very close in age they are really good sharers.😀

Thank you for the replies. I seem to remember someone from the Morning Thread buying one but can't remember who it was.

But if you see the work that goes into making a top quality one you can see why!

I love the sound of these and I have noticed their increased use as background music on a number of TV programmes. I don’t think I could justify the current cost of a decent on at £1000 to £2500

Just a thought, if you are getting one so they can play together, get one tuned to the standard music scale (A = 440Hz), so it will work with pretuned instruments like a piano. I see from the ads that some of them are based on other tunings like 432Hz, which might not blend well with other instruments.
