I like to watch programs like hairy bikers for their travel content, at the moment they are touring europe (Romania & Slovenia last week). Albeit video clips are brief, you get an idea what roads and countryside are like.

Tonight I was struck by the similarities between Venice and Grimsby.

Can't stand cooking progs, even with 'bikes involved.

I do take your point about Venice and Grimsby, Venice stinks like a sh*t house on a Grimsby trawler.

I must confess I like them and some of Dave Myers' quips are priceless - and he comes like me from Cumbria so he can do no wrong. They ham it up like mad but it makes a change from the usual sort of food programme, echoes of Keith Floyd in going to weird locations to cook.

Strange.
Didn't know there was a Venice up north.
You can't mean the one in Italy we've been 3 times in the last 2 years never noticed a smell and definitely not like Grimsby.

In the realm of culinary tv programs, I can think of little better than a lighthearted program involving food, travel and bikes (of the motor variety) with some humour thrown in!! (y)

Not surprised, I'd be enthusiastic if someone paid me to travel all over the place and act a cock while cooking basic fayre/one pot meals:)

You can't enjoy someone else doing so, just because they receive financial reward for it? I think they do a bit more than "one pot" too, but they don't claim to be chefs or experts, more enthusiastic cooks.

Each to their own, as per normal! ;)

I'm sure I've seen this tower in Venice? Other similarities, both have falling down areas (architecturally) and both are full of foreigners!

Depends which way the winds blowing. The smell is worse when the wind is blowing from the cruise ships. They are nowt but floating cess pits!!
You weren't on a cruise were you?

No but been on several cruiseships but never one that could be described as a floating cesspit more like a floating palace.
Mobile cesspit could be used to describe a motorhome if your that way inclined I suppose.
