Well we had satellite signal yesterday and this morning, but come back from a day in York and we have no signal at all now.
Nothing seems to have changed - dish still in same position, same number of leaves on trees (I got wife to count them) and same settings on box. So it’s a mystery.
DVD it is tonight

If you go into the receiver / Tv menu do you have any signal at all? Has someone accidentally selected the wrong sat? Also worth checking that you have power to the sat control box, some need a live feed to "let" the signal through once it has been found.
Good luck

Is that rowntree in York

I had enough signal on my phone to hotspot the firestick , Netflix in HD played fine with no buffering , the signal does seem to blow away though, sometimes you'll have 4 bars then a minute later 1 bar.

Maybe putin has found a way to turn motorhomers TVs off , that would start a war :D

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I’m just giving it one more try before we leave today. We’re staying at Grantchester which is a great find of a C&CC CL site.
There’s continuous power to the box - I’ve switched off/on after leaving for 5mins.
Checked all cables connected.
Reset system.
Changed transponder and back.
Changed satellite from Astra 2 (after exhaustive search) to Astra 1 to do same.
Looked at signal strength and it’s red for everything (was green yesterday morning)
Will try again when back in storage and then can see a call of trip to Oyster (god I bet Anthony dreads me ringing) 🤣

Has someone accidentally selected the wrong sat?
Shut up you!:swear2:
After arriving on site and advising management there was no sat signal was told to move to another pitch!
After doing so and changing the sat setting to Astra 2 :whistle2: from Astra 1 management demanded we move back again!

Still no signal when back in storage.
Think I’ve got a day up here problem finding tomorrow

I never dread anyone ringing!:LOL:
There have been a few frequency changes made today on Astra 2 so it's possible that they've messed something up.
Give me a call when you're with it and we'll see what we can do.

Reading further it's possible it could be LNB related too.

Gav, I had the same problem at Stratford Show 2-3 x weeks ago. According to my compass the dish was at the right position, but a notice on the screen display said "Service not available", rather than the expected "No Signal".

I retracted the dish and tried again later, when BINGO, it all suddenly worked.......with the dish in exactly the same position as before.

Good luck getting it sorted. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I find that if I am going somewhere near trees or high buildings that to find how far away from the obstacle to get a signal ,I use https://www.dishpointer.com/
Put in your location and you can move the pointer to any pitch on the site and drag the arrow to the nearest obstacle to find the maximum height that stops the signal

Got to love IT crowd.

Probably stating the obvious, have you checked the cables from the lab to the sat box.
The centre solid cable can break quit easily.
If it has unscrew the connector and remake, easy to do in a couple of minutes.

Thanks Anthony - I’m going to the storage place this morning so will give you a call whilst there.
Cheers

Thanks everyone fir your suggestions.
I initially thought that the trees may have obscured it but had a decent signal earlier in the day and tested again at storage where’s there’s no obstructions.
All the cables seem fine and secure so will see if Anthony can sort later on.
I shall let you all know how we get on 👍

Hello all,

Just a quick update to bring this thread to a close, I visited Oyster Sat Tech yesterday and met with Anthony who worked his magic.
He’s probably still lying down in a darkened room playing dolphin music as I type.
It was a strange one for him as one minute he hit it working and then the next it stopped but he managed to get it working again after much programming and a change of LNB after much process of elimination.
Fingers crossed that will have solved everything but it’s good to know there are fantastic businesses out there that are actively involved with helping Fun members.
Thanks again Anthony OysterTech

GAVLAD You're very welcome. It was a long old slog trying to identify the cause but I don't like being beaten. Few hours playing around and changing a couple of things here and there but finally found the problem so fingers crossed everything should be good now.

Can I ask please what was the problem, as the resolve may help others?

We are still on an Oyster One system, with 2 x LNBs. Would the resolve benefit us at all?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I think in the end it was an intermittent LNB fault so hopefully you will be ok (famous last words)🤣
