Before I start to try to dismantle the door has anyone done this and what do I have to remove (save me from digging bits out/taking off bits I don't need to)
I need to get to the lock mech. The solenoid is sticking and unless you give the door a slap the central locking won't lock the door)
It's an intermittent fault.....(apparently that's what the wife called me too :crying1:)

Cheers

Any door dismanterlers out there?
Rusty
stiĺl need help or are you now the resident door expert?

Have figured it out and removed it.
Was a bit fiddly...
(putting the inner seal back on may be a challenge... 😂)

And after all that... The fault was the wiring where it comes into the MH from underneath through the step well. Previous owner repair was a crappy connector and lots of tape, rammed into the long rubber grommet 🤬
Took it all apart, cut out the crap repair, staggered soldered joints, triple heatshrunk for added protection and put extra cable in the door to allow for any further repair should a break occur again.

And now I just need to sort the bin out because the lid is broken... 🤬
(can't find a new one either.. 🙁)

I take it you've taken it apart before?

Rusty

Am well impressed with what you achieved. We have a similar problem with our 2012 Bailey. However, when I removed the trim to get to the lock mechanism, the wires from the lock solenoid disappear into the door but under rigid foam leaving it inaccessible. But we also discovered a botched repair of the lock mechanism itself, where a rod was affixed by a cable tie where a bit of plastic had broken.
Regrettably you can't just buy a replacement connecting rod. You have to buy the whole lock assembly at nearly £300. So, at least for the moment, we are managing to lock the hab door with a key. Even then, as the repair with the cable tie is only temporary, it will need sorting at some point.
I would like to find a motorhome servicer who will have a go at fixing it, but so far, all they want to do is habitation checks.
Needs a good old fashioned mechanic who fixes mechanical things. A dead or dying breed, apparently.

The wiring is probably accessible but with a bit of digging.
If you can take photos of the broken lock it will give us (as a collective) an idea of what needs replacing.
Have found some brilliant help on here when I have got stuck with stuff.....

Remove the door waste bin.

Remove the silver door pull handle (torx)

Remove the black door opener (torx) - it pops out at the top then slides up to come off the metal pull opener.

Using a small flatblade screwdriver carefully manipulate out the long door grommet containing the wires that go to the MH body.

Remove the inner rubber seal that goes all the way arround the door. This keeps the inner door in place. (mine had 2 small additional pieces of rubber seal in the bottom L & R corners that helped it remain firm & in place)

Push the upper & lower door catches into the closed position (use the shaft of any suitible sized screwdriver)
*the door inner will not come off if these are not closed*

Carefully pull the liner from the right hand side and work it out from around the door catches and it will come off.

Disconnect the 2 spade connectors (these connect to the lock solenoid)

Remove the liner.

Installation is reversal of the removal but the fiddly bit is putting the inner seal on.

Hope this helps

I'm reluctant to take the door apart for the purpose of taking photos before I am in a position to fix the lock. At the moment, the lock just works (with the key) and SWMBO would not like me to tinker. :giggle:
However, I have a couple of photos of the lock workings (not mine) which shows the connecting rod (arrowed in red) that swings up and connects to the workings in the
other photo (circled red).
It is a little bit of plastic that has broken that keeps the connecting rod in place in the upper workings. Currently held up there with two cable ties.
